ADMISSION DECISIONS FALL 2016 (CLASS OF 2020)

Wow!!! @nolanconcepts. Very impressive. Also very sympathetic to @yoohoo12. There is nothing more painful than watching your child suffer, especially when it seems to be unnecessary. I anticipate you are all passing on the very true and very real life stories of the students who were just like them , got rejected or wait listed …worked hard to get in a year later and graduated with honors. ( This same “friend” that I know, well she runs circles around Wall Street Money Managers and has created a powerhouse over the past 25 after the initial rejection ). And when she looks back in the mirror , she grins.

@lz57c4 and @TUfamily, I appreciate your thoughtful words of wisdom. This is my second college bound child, so we all went into this knowing the drill, or so we thought. She applied to the suggested reach, targets and likelies, and once the very real disappointment is past, will no doubt do very well at one of the schools where she has been accepted, with generous scholarships. I’ve been reading this thread with increasing interest as we realized what was happening, and was just finally compelled to comment on this particular admissions practice. As I mentioned, she mostly tried to avoid schools where she maybe had a shot but that are known to aggressively court many more applications than they ever would need. We figured, fall in love with schools where admission is a real possibility. Knowing what we know now, she still likely would have applied to Tulane, but we may have made other choices with our limited travel funds and not encouraged her in this direction, and she with the disproportionate amount of time she spent demonstrating interest in this school, where her interest has gone relatively unrequited

My previous post was cut off. I went onto say that I wish the best for everyone’s students…and need to now wean myself off this thread!

My portal still says I’m deferred from early action… is there still a good chance that I could get in?

Rejected with 34 ACT and 97 weighted CNA (~3.9 GPA). Had good extracurriculars and everything but didn’t show much interest apart from writing an average why tulane? essay. I also got waitlisted at Wash U and Boston College.

Lol I got rejected here. Oh well I got into UCLA so I don’t care. My stats for all who care

UW GPA:3.77
W GPA:4.14
SAT:2080 (650 CR, 740 M, 690 W)

@yoohoo12…before we both wean off this thread I wanted to commend you for your voice. I think this happened to a lot of kids. Good for you for articulating your experience!! It is meaningful and will hopefully get someone’s attention or forewarn another hopeful.

So what does it mean if an applicant still hasn’t gotten a decision? My friends D tells her that she still doesn’t know about her Tulane decision.

@goingnutsmom Probably nothing. I believe all decisions were released by the 25th last year, but they could go all the way through March this year.

Got rejected, which I thought was a bit strange. Tulane works with Initialview, a college interviewing company that I did an interview with last year. I was sent an email detailing that Tulane really wants me to apply, saying that my stats and personal character was very in tune with what they were looking for, so I applied.
I’m not very fazed by this, while they did not guarantee admission, it was stated that admission is “very likely”. While they wanted my application, I don’t feel like it warranted that misleading idea that- hey if you apply, we’re pretty much going to accept you.
I am not bitter about this at all, I know that there is always uncertainty when it comes to college admissions, but from what I have read from the last few pages on CC, nothing has been extremely positive. Tulane is a great college, would have loved to have received a “yes” from them, but all’s well it ends well!

rejected too… recently received a lot of bad news… :((

i was waitlisted. 4.0 weighted GPA, 1810 sat, lots of ECs and good recs

Did you apply SCEA or EA? @Rose2016

I got waitlisted on Friday… Does anyone know how many people are on the waitlist/ what my changes of getting in off the waitlist are? I have an 1870, 3.65 GPA, I visited and interviewed, I have a really good resume with a lot of leadership, community service, and work experience, I also keep in regular contact with my admissions officer and another contact I met at Tulane on my visit. Also, I got into university of miami which accepts similar students to Tulane. Thoughts?

@miamiacceptme if you back on this thread to post #1630 you’ll see the numbers. Good luck on all your choices.

Denied last week … but I got into Vandy this week!!! So to anyone feeling down if they were denied that just means Tulane wasn’t the school for you! Good luck to everyone!! And enjoy the rest of your senior year(:

@blueandyellow

Congrats on Vandy!! Great school, and one of my favorite campuses aesthetically with Tulane’s. Is that where you will probably be this fall?

@fallenchemist I am still making decisions! I have some things to think through but I hope so it is my dream school!! And thank you very much!!

is there an accepted student fb page?
