Admission to low ranked courses of top-class colleges easier?

<p>heres a question…I want to apply for engineering fall 2007.
You see colleges like Dartmouth and Yale and Brown ranked pretty low in engineering, inspite of being top ranked universities in other programs. So would it be easier to be accepted in their engineering programs than the other programs??</p>

<p>no…I dont think so…Even I thought so…but its nothin like that…dont go for rankings in that kinda cases…(I think u fell for THES…use it only for choosing not evaluatin…)…</p>

<p>hey…there is no ‘back door’ to the ivies …u gotta earn it the hard way i guess…maybe that’s why they are the ‘elite’ ones…</p>

<p>yeah I almost did that too…although I still put Yale on the list just in case i got in. Lol! I had the same feeling that it would be easier to get in there…but it all balls down to where YOU think would facilitate your success in your chosen field.</p>

<p>Hehe! Yea its something u can fall for…i mean who will apply to engineering in these colleges if they have an Ivy type profile…!!</p>

<p>U see,…I hav noticed one thing here…ppl r goin to apply to that colleges for almost any degree they offer not coz of RANKIN but coz of their RECOGNITION in hte US alone…as u might hav noticed,these colleges r not even in existence i ur locality or in our country(atleast)…n esp.if it comes to engineering…u know already that u will get BA degree form these sort of colleges instead of BE…n here,as u knw,how ‘‘well’’ they r recognised…I guess u got wat I mean to say…</p>

<p>well primarily engineering is my expected major but since LAC have only ‘BA’ degrees available I might switch to CS…</p>

<p>ya…our purpose is not to simply get ‘‘graduated’’…bu to get a quality education…if it were not so,then i WOULD hav happily joind a college in my own country…it has very good colleges from where,thereafter, u can get a good JOB…</p>

<p>Same here too…I want to make Computer science in an LAC my backup…thou i havent been able to choose one yet…</p>
