I’m all new to this SAT thing. How long will it take me to practice for SAT? As in when will I know I’m ready. I’m aiming for 2000+. And most of the colleges in US are asking for 2 subject test. 1.)Physics 2.) Can’t decide. I have a lot of work in school. I want to study in school so that I can improve my 11th marks as I failed in almost 2 subjects. Please guide me. I’m confused. Very confused and how much time should I give it daily?

It is better to start practicing at least 3 months before your test if you want a decent score (2200+), if you want a perfect score (2350+) then start earlier. As for the subject tests I’d suggest you take Math II because most of the competitive colleges require one Math and it’s better if you take Level 2. I’m suggesting a typical plan…I mean I began practicing only a month before (I deeply regret it now) but it’s a great plan if you begin when you have a solid 3 months.

Month 1:

First Week: Try to familiarize with the test and take one full length test during the weekend, just to see how well you do. Whatever score you get, it’s fine…it doesn’t matter.

Next 3 weeks: During week days take one section everyday. Mat and CR last for 1 h 10 min each and Writing 1 h. Make sure you set apart time to review your practice. It is VERY important. I can’t stress this enough. Then every Sunday take a practice test. Create a time table to track your progress every week. I’d suggest doing this for the next month too. Sometimes you might feel like taking a break. So you’ll have time for all that. Keep developing your vocab constantly.

Month 3: Take 2-3 practice tests every week. Two weeks before your actual test take a full length practice test every day! You have to work everyday so that you accustom yourself to the 3 h 20 min drill.

Good luck and do as much as you can to keep up with your school work. Typically you should spend around 2 hrs when you’re taking section wise tests and 4 hrs for a full length test. Also spend 30 mins everyday to improve your vocab. :)
