Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

I have not seen if it has been definitively stated here … if you were EA and then moved to deferred on the 1/31 date, will you eventually get your decision in the portal FIRST and then by mail (electronic or snail) or ONLY by mail? This is so frustrating as many of us know. Fingers crossed for today! Thank you and good luck to all those still blowing in the wind.

@ntpro13 I was deferred 1/31 and what I was told by two admissions reps is that the portal would not be updated and that you’d receive a decision by email first and then later by snail mail. and as far as the release pattern, I don’t know if there is one… it seems to me that people have received emails on days other than Fridays but I’m not sure.

Many of my son’s friends were deferred in the last group. They applied back in September and have all moved on. They said if a school can’t make a decision in a 6 month time-frame they weren’t waiting around. Maybe that is what OSU is hoping for. For others to pull their apps so they can narrow down that way as well. From the numbers provided up-thread it doesn’t appear that they have room to admit more students anyway.

Where can I go log in online to see what merit aid I got? (this is dumb but I forgot which ones I recieved)

Is it likely that most deferred students will hear next week?

@ca1171 yes from what i have read about previous years most people have found out on these last 2 fridays of march because they will have made all decisions by april. best of luck you!

@randomstudent02745 Thank you!

@ca11700 My son’s friend called admissions last week and was told deferred students would find out March 31. He specifically checked because another school required a dorm deposit this week so he made the deposit since OSU said they wouldn’t notify until March 31. The admissions rep said this class was extremely competitive and they expect their yield to be higher than in past years. I’m guessing that’s why the deferred students have heard back where in past years deferred decisions were made earlier.

Anyone know when/how I can choose my dorm? I have not received any info regarding housing as of yet and I was accepted at the very end of January. I’m becoming a bit anxious about this because I have a few dorms which I find to be perfect for me but have limited availability. I should have prefaced this by saying that I’m no expert in how this whole housing process works haha so please excuse my naivety.

@collegedadto3 I believe deferred students already heard back from OSU though

@TayMarie Did you pay your acceptance fee yet? You should receive an email with housing info/sign up starting mid-March in order they received acceptance fees. Also, freshman cannot choose dorms, but areas: North, West, South.

@collegedadto3 My son was deferred on 1/31 and he has not heard back yet…

From what I have noticed, some deferred students have already heard back, but the majority hasn’t. I’m not really sure how they review/go through deferred students, but I’m trying to remain hopeful.

I’m hoping to hear back by the end of March! My mom said I won’t get first pick at a dorm for any school that I end up going to but hey OSU is all I really want so I can wait

same really hoping to hear back soon I was deferred 1/31 as well.

D19 is a direct admit to Fisher and was awarded the Trustees and National Buckeye Scholarship for a total of $14,500/year. Total of $58,000!

When does financial aid come out?

^?

@cokegirl530 all they said was by the end of the month.

ah okay, thank you!
