Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

Thank you @berry0720!! Our Family visited and toured OSU Columbus Day Weekend and took part in a Fisher Friday Business School event. It sounds very similar to buckeye bound.

@kesnyder5 Yes! I am from NY. You’re too kind. Thank you and best of luck to your son and hopefully we will see each other in the fall.

@browniesundae thank you so much. it truly means a lot and I will update the chat when I have more info.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me figure out what my chances are like to get accepted into OSU after a deferral. In-state, a private school, and maintained a 3.7 GPA. 25 ACT (terrible tester) but, from what teachers and counselors have told me, a very moving personal essay. Extracurriculars such as work, heavily involved in student government, founder of multiple clubs, involved in religious activities and youth groups, worked at camps, volunteered, etc. I also multiple letters of rec from a thoughtful board member at OSU.

I’m also wondering what the timeline is like for hearing back about deferrals. Does anyone know if OSU tends to take until the end of March, or do they get answers out earlier? Thanks!

@jmabuckeye sorry but there is no way of saying whether or not you you will get in, its osu

@cllp2023 I understand your frustration. My son had an equally strong GPA and 32 on his ACT last year, got into the Scholars program but did not receive any merit. It was unfortunate and needless to say; he ended up at a school that showed him some love, and he loves every minute of it — wishing you luck!

@H0llyw00d thank you so much! She has a few options and is still waiting on a couple more that were artistically audition based. I’m sure she will find her place just as your son did!

what grades do you need to maintain as s second semester senior so that OSU doesn’t rescind my application?

@bluevader937 I am wondering the same thing :frowning:

@bluevader937 i heard you can drop to Bs but also keep in mind they accepted you with a certain gpa so just know you are risking being rescinded if you drop too low

I received the National Buckeye and Provost in February by US mail, but when I go to the award summary tab in Financial Aid section on my Buckeyelink, it says “No award data at this time”. Are my merit scholarships supposed to show up here and are any of your merit scholarships showing here?

@wicked78 they’ll be there when your financial aid package is processed and posted. The email and letters say that will be done end of March. Congratulations to you!

Does every OOS student who meets the national buckeye requirement get the scholarship?

@cashcarti no, it doesn’t appear that way.

@cashcarti That is not the case (unfortunately). My son who had a 93 GPA and a 32 on his ACT did not receive any merit.

Also, i looked on osu’s website and the estimated cost of attendence for OOS is like 43k per year, but on buckeyelink it says 49k? Has there really been a 6k hike this year?

@cashcarti You are only looking at tuition and room and board. It is actually $48k when you include books and supplies and miscellaneous/personal.

When are decisions being released?

Did anybody receive financial aid package yet?

What is the approximate acceptance rate for undergrad in fisher business? I got in, just trying to see how selective and hard to go into it is
