Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

@VAbuckeye11 I’m OOS and still waitlisted. The # of admits for 2019 has gone up by a few people each week since May 1. I think they’re definitely admitting more off waitlist it just seems like they haven’t admitted too many students off waitlist at the moment.

Also we have to keep in mind that just because nobody on CC has posted about getting admitted off waitlist doesn’t mean nobody has been admitted! Stay positive everyone  hopefully this wait is worth it!

I’m also from oos and still waitlisted.

The college I applied to hasn’t changed in admitted numbers. (Animal science major m)

My son is OOS and still waitlisted.

Atmospheric science major.

Hey have you guys got any decisions so far? There’s only 3 days left till June 1st and I’m still waitlisted

@yenycbhs19 nothing for me. out of state. I noticed that compared to 20 May 2018 to 27 May 2018 vs 20 May 2019 to 27 May 2019 that there was an increase in admitted by 115 for last year waitlist but only an increase by 4-5 for this year’s waitlist. (Not sure if I worded that well enough to make sense) but I think that could be a good thing! They’re still down on enrollment by approx 90 kids so let’s hope for the best!

My guess is that we hear back tomorrow or Friday. I don’t think I’ve ever seen OSU release decisions on a weekend unless it’s over email because they send out the emails a day or two after the portal updates.

My son will be a sophomore next year at OSU. He was accepted in the first round of admissions, before Thanksgiving Nov 2017. He had a 29 act, gpa 4.19. He took 5 AP classes, 2 college credit plus classes. He was a 4 year varsity letterman. Was in numerous clubs and activities, NHS, won many awards in different things, had volunteer hours, did several mission trips.I just want to say that it’s not all about the gpa or act score. As you can see my son did not have a high Act score. I do know that his essay was outstanding. His teachers told him that it was the best college essay they have read. I think what OSU is looking for is a well rounded person, someone who can contribute to their campus in many aspects. So, to those students who don’t have the high scores and gpa’s don’t give up. You may just catch the attention of someone at OSU.

On this forum a 29 may not seem like a high ACT score, but I assure you, to the rest of the country, a 29 is a very good ACT score (93th percentile). Congratulations to your son!

Does anyone know if there will still be season football tickets available if we get off the waitlist? What tickets would I want if I wanted to be seated with all the other students ??

Student ticket info…https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/football-student-ticket-information/
Students sit in O North, O South or the student reserved section.
O North and South sold out within half an hour of when freshmen window opened (May 23 @ 4pm)
There is a waiting list process for football tickets, described on p. 3 of this pdf…

I would think students admitted thru the waitlist could get in on that, but I don’t know.

I have a feeling today’s the day! Good luck to everyone

This process has been absolutely disgusting. They waited till the very last day to defer me. Then they waited for the very last day to waitlist me. Now they just waited for the very last day to make a decision on my waitlist. But wait, there’s more!!! Final decisions went out today, but I didn’t receive mine!! Rather than my portal saying Declined or admitted mine said “inactive”. I didn’t know what that meant so I called the office of admissions and believe it or not they didn’t know what it meant either!!! They said that it doesn’t mean I was declined and that they will get back to me in a couple of days. Woohoo even more waiting! I guess waiting for 6 months wasn’t enough for them but hey who am I to tell them what to do.

Omggggg! Just went on my portal and it says I’m admitted to the main campus! Finally! Good luck to everyone! By the way, my major is dental hygiene and I am from out of state.

@ommiethehommie my status also changed to “inactive” and I called admissions and they told me it means they don’t have room in the incoming class for us. Why can’t they just be consistent for once?!

@oj2018 I’m glad that you got a clear answer out of them because the person that picked my call up did not know. I respect their decision that’s not what I am mad about. it’s how they’ve handled this process.

S received a rejection email at 11:36pm yesterday.

Status now says “Inactive”

I was accepted into main campus and got off the waitlist yesterday, OOS.

In the past, what days were acceptances released? Friday, only? I seems like this past week acceptances were released Tuesday-Friday.
