Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2023

Would updating my grades on common app work when showing colleges your semester grades senior year? Or should I directly send them my updated transcript

When I called admissions they said updated transcripts are usually only sent when the student has had a major change in their grades/gpa since their initial application. Otherwise, they already have what they need to make a decision

@equationlover According to the website description, the iPads will be considered property of OSU while the student is enrolled at OSU, but that it will be given to the student upon graduation.

@Watch37 by the time they’re considered ours, they’ll be four years old… talk about needing an upgrade. ? Even two/three year old tech is considered old, LOL.

An update to my previous comment regarding how applicants will be notified of their decision:
Still no portal and there will still be a snail mail letter, but decisions will first be sent via email. For EA decisions I believe the order was portal, email, snail mail, so now they’ve just cut out the step of portal notification. The physical letter will come a few days/weeks after the email. Or at least this is what the admissions rep I spoke to today said; there seem to be quite a few discrepancies between the different representatives and the information they give you.

@clairescho18 when I spoke to a representative he told me that the portals would be updated/still used. I’m not really sure what to think

For deferred applicants, the portal currently says, “A final decision will be made by the end of March. You will receive further information by mail.”

I’m thinking this means email then snail mail, like @clairescho18 wrote.

In the history of the Morrill Scholarship, has the award ever been given to an applicant who was deferred, then accepted?

I’m guessing no.

My daughter was deferred last year from early decision, but later accepted to main campus. There is still hope!

@ca1171 The only consistent statement I’ve gotten from multiple admissions reps is that the portal will no longer be updated with decisions. They could of course be incorrect, so it might be worth checking once a week or so, but I personally am not going to bother constantly refreshing it like I did in the past on decision release days.

@STEM2017 I saw like one or two people from last year’s thread that got notified they were a finalist in March, and got a phone call for the interview because obviously Distinction weekend had passed. They obviously were admitted in RD and not EA. As for myself, I am really starting to loose hope on distinction, as the weekend is in two weeks. It’s kind of unfortunate for people who received their decisions in January…

Thanks for the info @equationlover.

Wishing you the best of luck!

@STEM2017 Thanks!!! Currently I am applying to a bunch of scholarships because even if I got full tuition scholarship from Morrill, I still have to figure out the room and board fee. I really hope that I get a full ride though, due to my medical situation I probably won’t be able to work for a full year, and then will have to work limited hours the rest of undergrad. Sigh.

@clairesho18 thanks for the info, if multiple representatives told you that then that’s probably the correct information. The whole situation is just very unclear hahaha

@mamaleo after your daughter was deferred did her high school counselor have her send Ohio State any additional information/updated info?

Just so everyone is aware, just received this email on my personal email just so you have a heads up:

We are in the process of evaluating your application to The Ohio State University and have completed an initial review. A final decision has not yet been made on your admission to the university. Once the application deadline has passed and all applications have been considered, we will conduct a second review of your application.

We understand and appreciate your interest in the status of your application and you can continue to check your status online. We strongly encourage you to regularly check the email you indicated on the Common App as we may send time-sensitive information in the coming weeks. Final decisions will be made on a rolling basis during February and March and you will receive a final decision by the end of March. We promise to make every effort to contact you immediately once a decision is made.

@equationlover, was there a rate of tuition increase to account for this technology disbursement?

Wait so we do get iPad pros? I head we also receive free support to all tech we own, like computers, etc. is this true? Also where can I find info about the iPads?

@lowcountrychic @Jg3452 I don’t know. Look at their website. I do know they have an agreement with Apppe to have certain courses require Apple products - which is why they require freshman to have them.
