Admissions Maddness

Outstanding piece by Frank Bruni in the NYTimes. All prospective UVA applicants and parents should read -makes JMU and Tech look a lot better…

sorry:

The article really has nothing to do with UVa except for saying that: a) a couple of the students featured in the article were not admitted to UVa and b) among the current CEOs of the 10 largest corporations in the US, none went to UVa.

No high school student should become too emotionally attached to a reach college before they are accepted, and every high school student should find some match schools were they could be happy

People on this website really need to get a life. It was manageably stressful for a period of about 3 months, but ever since January 1st, I’ve been calm since the ball’s in other people’s courts now. It’s pathetic how people constantly make threads as if this is the hardest thing they’ve ever done and all that matters. If it matters that much to them, then they should diversify their time investments and not put all their self worth in their academic ability.

Well, I mean, you’re wasting your time replying to this thread so you’re just as “pathetic” don’t you think? For some, it might just be the hardest thing they’ve ever done, and for a few it might just be all that matters. If you don’t like it, then don’t read it. Nobody is forcing you to come on to this website. @BassGuitar‌

@GSikka When did I say I didn’t want to come on this website? It’s a useful resource when used healthily.

@BassGuitar…how is sharing an article from one of the most widely read publications in the world not healthy (except for the Rolling Stones article, of course!)?

The Diane Rehm Show on NPR did a story on Frank Bruni and his book today.

@robertr Sorry if my comment could have been taken as an attack on you, it wasn’t at all. My comment was directed towards the same audience as yours though: neurotic kids and parents who come on here crying every day about these things.
