Admissions tips from unlikely sources

I just have to share. I was booking a reservation for a hotel near Disneyland, and the lady on the phone asked if I would like to join the chain hotel’s program that allows you to get points, to use for discounts in the future, I suppose.

So I said sure, I might be going on another trip soon. So she asked where and I say, "Oh maybe Kalamazoo, and a college near Akron-- College of Wooster. "So she told me she lives in Cleveland, and asks what my daughter wants to major in. So I say, maybe languages, maybe biology. So, then she said to be sure to check out Case Western and John Carroll!

She told me that Case Western was very good for sciences and that John Carroll she thought was good also and offered lots of scholarships. Well, I didn’t tell her it is a little late in the game at this point for my oldest daughter, but told her I’d check them out – (I do have two kids left to go through this process with, afterall) and, so I looked up John Carroll online, and according to the website, John Carroll does offer lots of scholarships!

I just got a kick out of the idea of getting college tips along with my hotel reservation! :)

And I’m not that gifted socially – If I had been Berurah, I bet we’d have exchanged e-mail address and phone numbers!  :)
