Howdy! Is it fine to go ahead and send AP scores to A&M?

Is he National Merit Finalist?

You can, BUT do NOT accept any AP’s until meeting with advisor during NSC!

Yes - we are OOS! My son yet fully committed, but it his number one. He is going to tour UGA this weekend, but he thinks he is leaning towards A&M. Accepted in Business Honors. Starting to try to find a roommate - He is planning to live in Callaway House.

Nice, Thanks for chiming in. I hear some get in state tuition depending upon the state. We are not in that group, so trying to weigh oos tuition at A & M vs private options. We shall see. Congrats to your son!!

BH is awesome!

Does anyone know how I can go about taking a summer class during the first summer session at A&M? I was admitted for the fall of 2025, but would like to start early! Who should I contact/is this even possible? Any help would be much much appreciated!! Thank you.

I don’t think you’ll be allowed to take summer classes at tamu. You’re admitted for Fall so that is your start date unless Gateway. You can however take that class at a community college and have it transferred over. It’s cheaper and won’t go towards your tamu gpa.

Sports passes are available in Howdy! Was supposed to be April 1st, so not sure what happened but mine was able to get hers.

They give In-state if the university/department gives 5k I believe.

Ugh big family conflict with our scheduled NSC. Now the only NSC dates left are late July and August. How bad is registering for classes in freshman engineering that late? Please tell me my son won’t end up with all 8am classes?

The best thing you can do is look at the degree plan and come up with multiple options for different classes and then cross reference the classes with this: https://web-as.tamu.edu/gradereports/ which is the GPA’s for every class from each Semester by professor. Good profs are more important than waking up early and GPA is a better measure than any rate my professor website.

Used this with my older son and combined it with taking classes strategically online at JUCO’s (for neutral credit) and he is set to graduate in 3 years with a 4.0. Protect that GPA at all costs, especially as a Freshman. GPA is the ticket that opens up all the doors.

Do NOT register for August NSC
 kiss of death.
Have him switch to July, but check daily to see if any other session opens.
New seats ARE opened for every session
except August.

We are going to fly out and tour the campus next week to see how my son likes it. The more I learn about the school, the more it sounds like a great fit for my son.

oops.. meant to send DM

Does anyone who’s gone through dorm room selection before have any insights on what this process is like? How many days are all the students spread over for room selection?

My son paid his housing deposit in late October
any estimations on which day his time slot to pick his room might be?

And on which days do different dorm types typically fill up? I’m guessing any singles, White Creek, Hullabaloo, and Modulars are the first to go?

I want to make sure he tempers his expectations and has an appropriate Plan A, B, C and D!

Singles, Hullabaloo and Northside Modulars are the first to fill-usually by day 2.
Join one of the Aggie Parent pages-you’ll be able to figure out what day you are, by people that post their selection date.

Hands down, dorm selection was THE MOST stressful event, in my daughter’s 4 years at TAMU. Nothing else compares.

Thanks for your response! As an incoming freshman, what time slot did your daughter get and was she paired with a roommate or going in as a single? What dorm did she want and where did she end up? Just curious as to what the experience might look like. :face_with_peeking_eye:
