Admitted Texas A&M Class of 2029! Whoop

Parking is a lottery draw. Expect to get WCG, be pleasantly surprised if he gets anything else. Make sure he lists WCG has an option when listing choices.
Don’t sign up for Parking until dorm selection. Your boy is going Corps, correct? Just wait to submit Parking once Corps stuff signed/done deal.

Looks like financial aid offers are going out. My son’s Howdy portal shows a scholarship.

Congrats! Make sure he ‘accepts’ it in the portal, and checks regularly in case it changes.

How important is it to have an early NSC as far as getting classes? Would rescheduling from an early June to a late June have a big impact, or is late June still “early” enough? Business major.

Except for August NSC, ALL NSC sessions open seats…to be fair. A mid-late June-even July-session is Fine!
The earliest NSC is guaranteed to have kinks, be packed and unorganized.
Never schedule a session until student is fully DONE with high school (graduation, Project Grad, etc).
Don’t wait to combine August NSC with dorm move-in. Seats are limited, it overlaps Howdy Week. Never plan on August NSC.

There’s usually an informative Mays Parent session day 2, plan to attend.

Shoot! We had to schedule the May NSC because it was the only one that worked with our schedule. We will roll with it! Thankful we get the opportunity to attend NSC!!

Expect crowds & chaos! Be sure to book hotel for 2 nights (night before day 1 & night of day 1)…even if you live close (Houston area).
Don’t bring siblings, student & parents only-and register/pay for both parents to attend.

Ha, noted! We are booked, paid, and working on our checklist. Luckily, we are familiar with campus and College Station.

You are in great shape!
The NSC checklist is golden :white_check_mark:
Your student is already ahead of most!
When All Sports Passes opens up, be sure your student adds it to their virtual cart ASAP! They won’t pay for it until August, but it must be added to get one (opens in April or May, I think?)

I have seen several people say that their child’s financial aid offers are out. My son’s is still empty. It doesn’t even show any loans available. TAMU acknowledges that they have my son’s FAFSA. He was one of the first to fill it out due to being part of the beta testing through another university. Do financial aid offers slowly trickle out over time or should we be worried that nothing is showing up at all yet?

All students will get some kind of ‘loan’ info, posted to their portal. That will post fairly soon.
Unless your son is NMSF, don’t expect any awards or scholarships.
Make sure he’s checking portal weekly, including FinAid tab. Scholarships can come now thru summer, even after school starts. IF he should get something, he’ll need to ‘accept’ it thru the portal.
Do not expect anything tho, at least as incoming freshman.

I understand, we aren’t expecting any scholarships or grants. Expecting the minimum amount of an un-subsidized loan. Yay for him. :frowning:

It will post at some point, I think scholarships may post first? Promise the loan info will appear.

Happy Aggieland Saturday Eve, y’all!

Any advice on extra/bonus things to check out during our visit to Aggieland Saturday?
My son is planning to go to the “Now That You’re Admitted” presentation :tada: as well as the Scholarship & Financial Aid and Viz Overview presentations. :star2:

He’ll explore the resource tables in MSC and probably have lunch in Sbisa :green_salad: :poultry_leg: :cup_with_straw:

We’ve already done the campus walking tours and visited all the residence halls so no need to do those things this time around.

Honestly, the only thing we’re really hoping for is a Miss Rev sighting (a photo with her would be so cool!) but I’m sure she’ll be a “lucky if you spot her” thing. :upside_down_face:

Any other suggestions for cool things to do while we’re on campus tomorrow? TIA!

FYI, if your child applied to both TAMU and TAMUG and was accepted to both and you had trouble with getting your housing portal to open up, you are going to have trouble getting your financial aid package as well. Your child will need to send a question to TAMU admissions in the AIS portal asking them to make College Station their preferred campus so that their financial aid can be packaged to them. If you don’t, it looks like it will be stuck in limbo until you do.

Welp, kid got rejected from that other school in TX so that makes his decision a little easier. Only hangup is he is a Stamps finalist at LSU…full ride +…but I think he’s gonna end up an Aggie at the end of the day.
