Admitted Texas A&M University, Class of 2028

Okay gotcha on the 8 required semesters due to her major having sequential courses. Most aren’t that strict for sure

And you can take any course at Tamu assuming there isn’t a prereq or classification requirement. It does not have to be on your degree plan. Just to be clear for anyone reading this. And yes some scholarships will have their own requirements. It’s chaos… am I right? lol

Yes it is very complicated meeting A&M scholarship rules, financial aid rules, degree program rules, and university rules. And I didn’t even mention the tuition rebate rules. they can take any classes offered but there are consequences if they don’t plan it right.

I edited my post above to clarify that you can take classes not on degree plan but there are limits and rules.

My son was just invited to the L.E.A.D. Summit. Would love to hear experiences, tips, advice about this!

I went with my daughter two years ago. It was a good experience. I recommend it if it works with your schedule. It is for the student and a parent. It fills so sign up quick if you are able to go.

Thanks for posting! Nothing yet for my child… fingers crossed he ends up with something since we will have two in college (have had two for the past two years and will for the next three). I think someone said packages start rolling out in April. I was hoping he might end up with a PES since he is Commended. I know long shot. We were sad to see the National Recognition one go away this year since he also has the Hispanic one. Fingers and toes crossed… in the meantime he has applied to 12 outside scholarships and has more on his list to work through.

My son and I went to the LEAD that backed up against Aggieland Saturday. We really enjoyed and would recommend going. Plus I know she’s not there all the time, but we also got to meet and a photo opp with Miss Rev!

@Raider97 PES for Commended will depend on how many NMS/F accept, attend. It’s automatic for S/F, not automatic for Commended.
Perhaps Lechner or McFadden scholarships tho! One is Dallas County specific (and I can’t remember which, sorry).

Because May 1 is National College Decision Day, that means PES, Lechner and McFadden could still be offered in June or July….once they know for sure who will be attending. And they also offer to others, if not accepted in time!

Hang in there, tell your student to check FinAid tab once a week…all summer long🤞🏽

I’ve seen people discuss the sports pass option where you can include a buddy on your pass? I looked on the 12th man website and couldn’t find any details. Can anyone point me in the right direction to learn more about that or what the basics are about that?

@mere33 may not be an option this year.
Sports Passes haven’t opened yet, so student will just need to wait.

thank you - was just curious how it worked…I knew not opened yet…we will just wait and see. good point that it may not even be an option this year.

Wouldn’t surprise me, at all, if it isn’t offered.
Students and 12th Man ticket holders (who heavily subsidize student Sports Passes) haven’t been terribly supportive.
Student section should be for true students-not Blinn kids, roomies, siblings, boy/girlfriends.
Hundreds, if not thousands, of current students don’t get a Sports Pass every year…even tho A&M has the largest Student Section in the nation.

Have your student follow social media pages, check tamu email daily. When Sports Passes open up, they’ll add it to their virtual cart (not paying until August). IF the Guest Pass is offered, it’ll be posted on 12th Man Athletics page.

@52AG82 You called it. I just checked Howdy/Student Life/Purchase Optional Services - College Station Campus/Athletic Sports Pass. They appear to be available now, with no guest pass option.

The price increased, not a surprise.

The system lets you change your mind after the previous selection.

$400 is still a bargain! It’s an ALL sports pass, heavily subsidized by 12th Man Foundation. It was either $325 or $375 last year, and was that price all 4 years my Aggie was in school.

Not surprised, at all, if the ‘Guest’ pass option has gone away. They will absolutely sell every student sports pass. And my prediction is they’ll sell out WAY sooner than usual…due to Texas joining SEC and UT game played at Kyle Field this year.

If you don’t get the sports pass can the student still purchase individual tickets? If so, what’s the cost?

It’s for ALL sports, not just football. Student might be able to get football tix to non conference games, but doubtful/difficult to get a ticket to SEC games. Ticket prices vary by game, for those without a pass.
Trust me…add the Sports Pass to their virtual cart.
And add it as soon as it opens up.

Is clicking the “save my choice” button actually putting this pass in your cart?

I was able to add it yesterday and my daughter received an email confirmation to her A&M email that it was added. I did not expect it to be open yet, but say above that someone could add it and I checked and we could too. It had said they’d open 4/1. I think that is all you have to do right now and it will be added to the tuition bill.

Ok, that’s what we did and had the same experience. Just making sure!

I have heard on other FB pages that there is no need to rush to pick priority parking and can wait until we know which dorm they get in May….is this true? I know it’s a lottery but makes me nervous to wait!
