Parking lottery is done in July, you’ll know where the dorm is by then unless you happen to be wait-listed.
Yes but is it important to choose priority parking now that just opened? Or is there no rush on that step since it’s lottery in July?
No priority, just register at some point before it closes. They’ll do the lottery and let people know and offer waitlists. Aggie #1 actually got into a parking garage halfway through sophomore year after starting at some insanely high number on the waitlist. The good news for some of the parking is that if and when you get the assignment, you’ll keep the assignment your whole time at A&M (you can renew the same lot each year without going through the lottery).
Freshman get lot 100 unless resident. Very rarely will they get anything else. Garages possibly.
There is no ‘priority’ parking. Do not register for parking until after dorm selection-if living on campus.
Parking is a lottery, it is NOT like dorm selection where you need to pay deposit the minute it opens.
I’ve seen plans for each of the room types in all of the dorms, but are there any overall layout drawings for the misc dorms on campus? Layouts that show the entire floors and where each room sits in reference to each other and to things like kitchens, elevators, stairways, etc?
There’s still class priority tho, right? Meaning freshman don’t even have a shot at some lots. Or have they gone to total lottery?
Yes, I think it’s still based off ‘priority’-those who have had a pass in prior years.
But there’s no ‘priority’ to add to cart 1st day vs last day of Parking registration-it’s a lottery.
Guaranteed spot-somewhere-for freshman living ON campus…as long as they register within the time frame AND list WCG as one of their options.
^Be sure to follow instructions carefully when submitting! If you don’t list exactly what they say to, you won’t get a spot
My current freshman was not able to find that kind of info on the dorms until when he was picking a room during dorm selection. You could see parts of the hall at a time so you could tell if the room you were picking was close to stairs or a kitchen. Still not a full layout though.
@JEdge2004 for security reasons, you won’t find maps like that posted. On the Parent FB pages, you can use the tool and search older posts-you might find out which # rooms in a certain dorm are next to the stairs, which rooms in Modulars are the longer rooms, but no detailed map.
The assignment/lottery process is described here: https://transport.tamu.edu/parking/faqpermit/assign.aspx
Basically, if you’re an incoming freshman or other student without an existing permit, you’re assigned parking during step #8 out of 9 total steps (meaning after everyone else in steps 1-7 has been assigned parking). The only people behind you are people who don’t apply for parking by the required request deadline.
They don’t appear to differentiate between undergraduate classes, just between graduate and undergraduate students.
It actually states by classification in step 8. That means “grade”. Within each classification is random.
Good catch, missed that.
Does anyone know what time Fish Camp registration opens up tomorrow?
Have student follow their social media pages and website
Thank you.
Long shot question. In terms of last year or years prior, does anyone know “what time” day one housing picks started? Is it typically like 6am, or some random time in the middle of the day. Reason I’m asking is my daughter got a notification saying the housing dates will start being sent out on April 26th and would start on May 6th. However, May 6th is her first of 4 consecutive days of AP exams. No phones, no breaks, etc. I’d hate for her to lose her top choice because she can’t take off that day until after school.
@JEdge2004 she will find out her exact time slot on the 26th. If it is during AP testing-or another conflict-she can give you/the parent her log-in info.
Our time slot was during Powder Puff football game, so her roomie and mom had the log-in info and selected for them.
It is fast and frantic, I highly suggest having 2 people and two laptops during registration.
And the times don’t start at 6:00 a.m; the times are in staggered shifts, like noonish, after lunch, mid afternoon-ish.
Thank you
My daughter was in class. I logged in and selected her dorm for her. It was fine. Just make sure she has logged in recently from the device you will be using select the option to remember /stay logged in. It will only do so for so long. I can’t remember how long. 5 days? A week? Something like that. It periodically requires the two factor login and sends a code to her phone that she would need to then provide to be able to login.
