Admitted to Online Campus - but should I actually go?

Hello Everyone,

I recently applied and was admitted for Fall 2016 Urban Planning program at the online campus. I have applied to Cal-Poly SLO & Pomona for the same program but have not heard back yet (I dont expect to be admitted to SLO but am holding out hope) I have a 4.0 on my transferable units and a 3.96 gpa on nontransferable. I guess my question is this: “is ASU Online a well respected good education?” for the reading I have done it seems pretty easy to get accepted… Is ASU a degree mill my enrollment counselor seems like a sales person and that is making me a bit nervous…

I plan to go to the Cal-Poly’s if accepted in to either but have to wait for mid feb early march for decision is there any reason that I should not register for the fall semester at ASU then if i get in at Cal-Poly drop the classes?

any advise suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Josh T

ASU online is indistinguishable from ASU as far as your transcript and diploma go. It is respectable and fully accredited. The same faculty that teach at ASU, in their respective departments, also teach online. On the whole, on online/distance education will never be perceived as the same. But your resume, diploma and transcript won’t really convey that you went to school online.

Regarding “it seems pretty easy to get accepted” – this is ASU. Our acceptance rate is close to 90%. Of course it’s easy to get in. Is ASU a degree mill? No. While getting accepted here may be easier, it is just as rigorous (and hard) to keep up once you’re in as any other university.
