@Gjessi2020 college counseling for what specifically? Are you looking for someone to help your son (I take it you have two children, based on previous posting) with essays, or perhaps searching for colleges or degree programs, or test preparation, or something else?
Regardless, a good first step would be for him to ask his high school’s counselor, if there is one. However, I have heard of many high schools without knowledgeable counselors, and another option is to simply ask around on CC - there are many users with years of experience on the matter. Ultimately, if he is motivated enough and willing to do the work, he or you may not even need to hire a counselor.
I have one quick question for you may be you can answer.
My son wants to Algerbra-2 during summer course and gain the school credit so during fall he wants to take pre-cal during 10th grade.
Do you think doing Algebra-2 in summer online will that affect his chances in collge process ?? pl advice?
@Gjessi2020 Algebra II covers quite a bit of material, so I’d only advise taking it over the summer if he is capable enough and is willing to invest the time. Lots of students rush through the HS mathematics curriculum only to realize that they are sorely under-prepared when taking a course such as calculus or physics (I’ve seen this among university students!). He should also confirm that his school is willing to grant credit for a summer course.
In terms of admissions, it may or may not help, but I suggest considering other factors besides college admissions when deciding whether or not to take Alg II.
@Gjessi2020 algebra 2 is critical for doing well on tests like the PSAT and SAT. he should definitely take algebra 2 in school, and if his teacher isn’t very good, get a tutor. i think taking pre calc the summer AFTER algebra 2 would be perfectly fine though. Not much new information is covered in pre calc-but algebra 2 is a ton of new concepts.
