Advice for Finance / Business programs

Hi my name is Jason, I’m a Junior from San Diego, CA and I’m hoping to apply to a summer program that will help me expand my knowledge and boost my chances into being accepted to a business / finance college like UPENN, NYU stern, etc.

Honestly the sheer number of college programs is overwhelming and I’m hoping that you guys can help narrow it down for me. Here’s my resume

Ethnicity: Asian
Household Income: 120,000~
State: California

Standardized Tests:
SAT: 2330
PSAT: 238
SAT II: Bio 780

AP:
Took: 5 (Physics B, Calc AB, Bio, Euro History, Calc BC)
Taking: 4 (Physics C Mechanical, Physics C E&M, Chem, US History)
Also took Multivariable Calculus at UCSD because I ran out of math courses, got an A

GPA:
Weighted: ~ 4.4
UW: 4.0

EC:
School Newspaper, three years, no leadership position
CSF Vice President
Catalyst for Success Organizational member (We go out to elementary schools and teach kids science), organization oversees the 8 branches
Quizbowl, Historybowl, Varsity Academic League

Volunteer / Work:
I volunteer every other week at our downtown science center museum
Had an internship at a research lab last summer (Sanford-Burnham)

I realize my EC’s are relatively weak compared to some but I’m hoping my performance in school can balance that out. Also I realize my EC’s are all over the place and don’t really fit into either all STEM or all Humanities. I just always liked learning about things. In the end, I do have my main interest in finance, and I’m hoping that I can go to a program that will advance me in that area.

It would be awesome if you guys could help me out!

@ellevate Thank you so much for your advice! I am applying for Launch and I’ll look at LeanGap. Good luck to you as well!!

Don’t feel limited by known internships and summer programs. Try reaching out to different banks/ financial institutions in your area and see if you can get a job. I have found that it is far easier to annoy a company into giving you an internship than to compete with hundreds of other high school students for a couple spots. A lot of companies will be willing to give you a chance in exchange for free labor.
