Advice for Personal Statement

Basically, I am looking for advice on the structure and the flow of my personal statement. My introduction to mine describes of a hardship (Junior year) I faced, and I wonder if I have to follow through and build onto that. For instance, I could continue on why this hardship mattered to me, what affected me etc… However, I wanted to jump back right into family life growing up, cause the hardship indicated in the intro is only one of many strings of hardships I faced and was the latest of the many I experienced. Basically, the first hardship was an epiphany. However, I think it would confuse the reader that I go from talking what happened junior year to family life etc… What would be the best course of action?
