Advice needed about low GPA

I am in currently a sophomore in high school and in the first semester got a 2.8UW/3.6W. Being honest, My goal was around 3.6-3.7 UW by the end of my high school career but i now realize it is very unlikely. I got held up with time from playing varsity sports(football and track) which led to my demise with grades by getting 2Cs(ALG II TRIG (H) and CHEM (H)) 2Bs(WORLD HISTORY AP and ENGLISH 2 (H) and 1 A(SPANISH 2). My projected GPA for this semester is around, about 3.4-6 and my UW with freshmen year is at 3.3. The classes I will take next year include AP US History and BIO/English 3 (H)/Spanish 3/Pre-cal (CP)/Track and Field (varsity if that matters) and quitting football(2 years 1 year varsity if it matters).

Considering I want to go to places such as UCR, UCI, USC, Boston College, UCSB, UC Davis, U of W, U of Michigan, Indiana U Bloomington Kelley School of Business. Any tips on what I could do other than raise my GPA, like something to cover for my lower end GPA?

I can’t speak for the other schools, but with IU-B GPA and test scores are paramount (business school especially). If you can bring your unweighted above a 3.0 and get an impressive SAT/ACT score, you’ll very likely get in the school proper (the business school is much more competitive)!

Remember that IU superscores, too. Only your best scores for each category are reviewed!

But for the business school at IU-B, do you have to apply for the specific school in the college app or can I choose once i get into the college itself? (assuming I do apply and maybe get in…)

So in terms of the business school for IU-B, which is my interest lies in, what are the chances then, or like the question below, once i get into the school, can i choose then? And thanks for the response.

With the business school, you can be either a direct admit or enter after already being admitted.
Admissions is sort of tough, but if you don’t get in direct admit you can always reapply after being in the university a bit (if that’s the road you take)! When you apply as an IU student it’s your college transcript being evaluated, so low high school grades wouldn’t be so much a factor.

If you’re interested in investment banking, though, the honors program for that is very competitive (the business school itself is still competitive, but less so)! You’ll want to ask about that on the IU-B thread.
