I think it’s full of good advice.

My son, a physics major, has flourished by digging into his humanities courses where he is asked to think, analyze, compare, and write on matters pertaining not to the sciences, but to language and literature. He has loved it.

I really do not know what he plans to do with his undergraduate degree, but I do know that when he returned home after the end of his sophomore year I could easily imagine him working as a science consultant for the local media outlets, so completely effusive and eloquent was he. I could see him doing precisely what the excerpt recommends a person gain skill at, he could (nearly seamlessly) “…take complex ideas and explain them in short, straightforward, plain sentences…”

This from a kid who could grow flustered with those of us who simply did not speak “his language”.

I have no doubt that as this is evidenced in his speech, so, too, it is in his writing. Professor remarks attest to that.
