Looking for Universities in or around NY USA that can be affordable for international student.TIA
It is not possible to answer this question without more information.
First, what is your definition of affordable? Can you afford $70,000 per year, or $25,000, or $10,000 or nothing? Can you afford the air fare to get from where ever you are to the US?
Also, what are your stats? A very small number of very top international students can get major scholarships at a few US universities. This is however very highly competitive and only a very small number of very strong students have any chance at a major scholarship.
Do you mean in or around New York City or New York State?
In another post you asked about cheapest universities in the US. The NY area is one of the most expensive places to live in so why would you target that specifically?
Because i have family there so if even if ny is expensive, i could cut the living expenses
Inside is preferable.
Affordable in terms of unis that take least amount of money in my four year programme.I know how competive it is…so if you could suggest some it’d be great
Probably any of the CUNY schools is your best bet in terms of affordability in NYC. Even out of state tuition is under $18K. Can you live with your relatives? Most CUNYs have limited housing options.
Agree with @PetraMC: unless you are a super-high achiever and you want to be in NYC, CUNY + living with relatives is probably your only realistic option.
If you can get into a CUNY in the borough where your relatives live, they’re probably the cheapest option.
Others would require high test scores.
Thanks
CUNYs and SUNYs
CUNY is cheapest, agreed, and it’s also surprisingly good. Look carefully at what each school offers. I disagree that you should only look at schools in your family’s borough. There’s excellent public transportation in the City and, barring the most far-flung commutes, you can do well by traveling to other boroughs.
Note that if your commute would take place mainly on an express line, that simplifies things a lot. Express trains include the 2, 3, the A, D, and E, and others.
Check out the Macaulay Honors college. If you’re OOS, it might be slightly more than free, but if you’re considered in-state then it’s free plus a stipend plus a place to live.
deadline is DECEMBER 1.
This is also a good resource for schools ranked high in terms of upward economic mobility (most are more affordable and many are in the NYC area, CUNY Baruch is one of the best):
