According to the undergrad record, once a student has matriculated, the student must fulfill all general ed. requirements at UVa. Does this mean once you have accepted/paid deposit to UVa, or does it mean once you have actually attended your first class at UVa? (Trying to decide about possible summer classes to transfer from comm. college.) Thanks!

i think i read somewhere that dual enrollment credits don’t transfer to fulfill those reqs anyways… but i could be wrong.

you are wrong - dual enrollment credits do transfer and can be used to fulfill area requirements. As for the OP’s question - I’m not sure if its once paid or once you’ve attend your first class.

"Credits earned before matriculation to the University may be used for fulfilling area and competency requirements. Dual enrollment credit, however, may not be used to fulfill competency requirements. "

So no foreign language basically. I think that’s what I meant but did not articulate properly. Still no idea on the matriculation. If trying to get away with an easy whatever course, it does warn on the bottom of the area requirements page that 000Ts do not count (for most of the sciences this is how they transfer from community colleges).

Is it hard to be a Echols scholar? I want to be able to pass the requirements. Is it common?

Do you mean to ask if it’s hard to get in after your first year?
