famom…I was thinking of you lots on Friday. Did you think they were going to take it all the way over the brink? Is it terrible that I think the last minute decision was part of a show? How do you keep the faith when there is so much posturing in government? Thank gd for people like you who are dedicated to service. I am such a dropout. My frustration makes me run and hide.

Bears, thank you so much for making my morning so sunny! You’ve shared the love with many, many people.

Now, I’m off to think about what to do when it gets freakishly hot today. No furry suit for me!

bears:
Thanks again and also thanks for your vivid sharing :—)
Your language and spirit is amazing. I never think of i can dress up in a fun way, I should change to make my life more fun.
Switters:
Each child is so different. my D is so introverted, that bring me a lot troubles.
I still remember we were always late for Church because D get up late and need so many time to get ready, but suddenly it got changed. that part is GOOD.

love
I got another Elmo I made for his 8th grade halloween (he grew) this one is emerald green, so people would mistook him as Oscar because I also made red Elmo-Elmo for his buddy so they can go out together. They’d play-fight ninja style on the street and poor kids are crying moms would go " Please stop that!! you are upsetting little ones!"
The friend still has the red Elmo but I have my kid’s green one.
next time you come, I will let you wear either one, citrus green or emerald green: my kid insisted he wants green, because his Elmo is drunk) I will put on the other one and we just go take subway, how about it?

Bears, thank you for your wonderful story, it brightened up this gloomy morning. I am thankful to see such love in the world!

I’m sure Baby LoveBlue will always remember your kind gesture.

Going back to work with a grin on my face!

D said she will get the photo and I will email you after I get them.
Next time when I visit nyc, I will try and took a picture, of course.

Gmom
if you want to do something outrageous, com’n down. you can be the green monster, too. and rest assured I don’t have bedbugs.

LOL, I should post a picture of the porcupine costume I made for Halloween for my kids when they were toddlers. I’m sure I would never ever in a million years squeeze into your monster outfit though : (. Thanks for the invite, I am planning to meet you in real life sooner or later – though if you’re going to go stay with Loveblue in Iowa I’d better hurry up.

is hard for me, I feel pretty happy I know two artists in the 10:
Cezanne and Picasso! I did search all of them to get a art education yesterday but didn’t have chance to post my achievement until now.

Is this fun? I just learnt Conceptual Architecture. Sorry it is a Chinese blog but the picture is cool to share. Maybe it is just me, very out of date …

hi love
^that wasn’t really quiz to name the artist or anything. the OP kid is so awe-inspiringly detached from common art kid-sh way, I just wanted to know what’s up with him.
I mean if kid would made to learn about basic art history or dragged to museums and such, at least he would have recognized few of them, even he didn’t, he would have thought
“is this so-called master piece or what?”
or he simply does not care if anyone would ridicule him for dismissing Picasso with D grade and/or talking about his ability to copy master works.
I thought someone would do that to him and did not want that to happen because I knew there is something really strange going on, could be a touch of genius, my favorite subject!!
(no, switters, your post was fine. I wanted to refrain attacks from kid like butcher or even some meaner ones)
It is a mystery to me how he stayed that way while born to an artist parent, raised here in US and taking art class at probably conventional school system all along. If he had Pokemon cards and Xbox ( they are metaphors. my favorite subject!!) it was basically normal childhood, I bet.
where was I?
yeah, don’t feel bad if you don’t know something because it was not your thing until babyblue happened. And you are learning fast! tiger speed.
we can show interest in what they are doing and all that, but I feel that time I could have actually taught him something is way gone. That’s why I want to him to be in good company that keep feeding him better fuel to grow, not only good quality but how they get there count: clean ethical good fuel. Is there such thing left?
anyway
I am so curious to know what’s gonna happen to the no-conceptual-kid.

^^the LA kingpin’s museum is in your link!
remember, absorbent and porous like Sponge Bob?
that’s the image they are talking about, they are building it for real. They should make it yellow. hahaha

I know what you mean and I did search a lot of the 10 artists and it is fun for me to pick up something I didn’t know

Had a great time at the first ever MCAD Parents Swap day. Got to the Minn airport Friday and texted D that I was there, and she told me she thought I was coming in tomorrow said how could I when the SWAP day was Saturday? Head in her projects I guess, but she felt bad because she wanted to clean up before I got there, as I was staying in her apartment that looked like 4 art kids lived in it. Oh well. She had a class that afternoon, so I started in on the mounds of dishes and swept the floor. Later on I figured if I lived there, I could hire myself out as a housekeeper during midterms and finals. One of her roommates said they the only thing they had time to do is work, sleep and eat. The kids who live in dorms and eat their meals at college cafeterias definitely have the advantage during crunch time, as they dont have to worry about cleaning the bathrooms and cooking their own meals. I could only find 1 dish towel, and no one seemed to know where they all went (I know I sent at least 6 paint rags Im sure :D), and the pots and pans looked like they had been through WWII. No point in packing those up for the summer, you cant even clean them. Had her get Comet at the store on Saturday so I could clean the bathroom sink and some oven cleaner so well be ready in May when she moves out. Needed vacuuming desperately but the vacuum wasnt charged, so I couldnt do that.
But on to SWAP day!! The Events Planning class students put the whole program together and did a great job. Nice programs and bumper stickers that said Proud Parent of a MCAD Artist. The day started with coffee, cookies and fresh fruit for breakfast, and President Jay Coogan (formerly of RISD) mingling with the parents. After he said a few welcoming words, we were on our way to our first class. Mine was History of Animation. Thought it was going to be a lecture on the beginning cartoons (Steamboat Willie, etc) but it was actually a look at all types of animation, he showed clips from House, commercials, etc. Very interesting and made you realize how much animation is used throughout the media. Next was a lunch provided for parents and their student (no students allowed in the classes!), where Jay talked some more about upcoming plans for a new graduate school building, business partnerships for interning and job networking, and overseas connections for study abroad opportunities. My afternoon class was Monotype (which I had to look up before I signed up had no idea what it was!), which was fun. Its a printing process where you ink a plexiglass plate and create your design in the ink. Got a glimpse of what the creative block is, staring at the black plate with no earthly idea what to do, as I am not artistic. But I managed to draw the only thing I can, a dog head and it came out terrible. My next one was a set of flowers (the other thing I can scratch out), which was a little better. Got to meet many of her friends and now have faces to put with names. Saturday night I hung out in the comic studio for awhile where she and a friend of hers were busy working on one of her final projects. Was interesting that even tho the two of them were in there, they each had their own projects to work on and there wasnt much socializing. We were going to go to a restaurant nearby for dinner, but didnt think they wanted to take 3 hrs to eat, so we ordered a pizza instead. We all ate, and then they went back to their respective corners. There was another group of students that were all drawing and talking and it was fun to listen to them. Did her laundry Sunday am while she was sleeping, having worked til 2 am or so., and then went back Monday afternoon. All in all, was a great weekend and I hope they have it again next year.

lemme just say I am squirming with delight for the mention of “comet”
that’s so, like, sounds “MOM is here!!!”
awwwww when is the last time I saw one of those shiny cylinder?
can you come and clean my place, redbug? You can wear monster costume for free.

PS.
I told you in the squee that noone in MCAD do dishes

are you there Gmom

WNYC again!
as if I am listening to the radio all day long not doing much else but that’s exactly what I am doing.

redbug:
It is nice to have the Parents Swap day!
It is good you D have you in her dorm. The first time I came to nyc last Oct. I got to her dorm and it is really mess. The second time I got thee in Feb, she didn’t want me to get in her dorm, it must be messier, i guess.
Good thing is this semester is ending soon. We can have them back soon.

^^Ooh, and we all get to help them clean up their messes when they leave. And schlepp it all out. I’m not looking forward to that! What should we do to fortify ourselves in advance? I’m thinking of trying to hire D1’s boyfriend, his truck, and all his friends, to help out. The question is, will they fall for it?

G - offer them pizza and beer and they should follow you anywhere!! I unfortunately do not have anyone to help, as DH cannot take time off work (no work = no pay), so it will be left to me. Last day of classes is May 3, and I arrive on May 5, so that gives them a 2 day head start before I get there. My expectation is that the Chicago girl will be out of there by then, and that leaves the 2 international students, one who has relatives that live locally. As they said in the old Dick & Jane books, See them run. Run, run, run… Tag, I think I’m it.

G
D1 is the nurse twin, yes? BF is HS classmate, yes?
(cough cough)underage drinking (wink wink)
I made stink at my niece’s HS grad backyard party and it soured my lovely (sneeze) relationship with lovely SIL with her kids’ names tattooed on her wrist.
their motto
“better in my backyard with bulk priced beer than (fill in the blank)”

Yes, bears, they’re all either 19 or 20 and parents can get arrested for that sort of thing. Luckily BF loooooves food so that may be enough of a draw. Maybe I’ll call him and ask him what he wants us to make. Lots of beef should do it.

I hope your SIL had them all sleep over or hired a bus to bring them home!
