Hello! I live in Florida and there are quite a bit of schools around here that offer AICE courses. They are well established and recognized in Florida but I wanted to know how they are looked at in California.
Schools that I’m looking at:
- University of California, Berkeley
- University of California, Santa Barbara
- University of California, Los Angeles
- Stanford University
- California Institute of Technology
Do these schools recognize the difficulty of AICE classes (A/AS Levels) just like they do for AP / IB Classes. (In terms of GPA Calculation and rigor). I just want to know of it would be wise for me to switch to an AICE school without having to worry about the classes not being looked upon as being as rigorous as AP / IB classes.
All answers are appreciated, thanks everyone!
According to the UC website, only AP/IB courses are considered Honors type classes for OOS applicants.

Stick with the AP or IB classes if you plan to apply to any UC’s.
Found this about Stanford and other Ivy league schools and also I did find the the following schools will recognize these classes but I do not know if they will contribute to your GPA for the UC’s.

Cambridge qualifications are recognized and accepted by over 450 universities in the United States, including all Ivy League universities, MIT and Stanford.
Thanks! Looks like I have to decide whether or not I will be applying to UC’s early. Again, thanks for the info, it’s exactly what I was looking for
UC’s only offer RD admission but the deadline is Nov 30 for the application. Good Luck.
