The problem with such laws is that, since they’re essentially expected to be broken, they often aren’t enforced, leading one to question why they’re even put into place.

This isn’t to say I’m in the knee-jerk “lower the age like in Europe!” camp. Read post #29 to see why I think that’s a really ill-thought suggestion.

^The problem with such threads as these is that they bring out the fail in everyone (except for me, I’m made of win), who probably do fail IRL.

Nope same meaning. We never set a limit on how to use the word “bad.” I’m not saying murder is bad, but 99% of the people here who say drinking isn’t a bad action would say that murder is bad, because they are hypocrites who set their own arbitrary bounds but are quick to cry over other people’s arbitrary limits over when they can enjoy their favorite drinks in peace.

So you condone murder too…well, a lot of other people might disagree, but I applaud your consistency.

Lol the arrogance by people who justify wine drinking but not other “harder” beverages is also humorous. Wine swaggerjacks green tea, the only difference is that it has alcohol and sugar (lol, Godfather).

^ I don’t remember anyone saying that wine is okay but not harder alcohol. If you are talking about me, I used wine as an example. I’ve had shots at home before. It’s no different in principle than drinking a glass of wine.

Just kinda off topic, but one drink of my mom’s white zyfandel, nice wine, i don’t know if I spelled it right, gets me drunk off my ass. It takes other alcohol longer.

if you don’t know what BF2 or COD4 is and think that playing video games while drink =s alcoholism than I hope you are a 40+ year old mother. Otherwise, I am very concerned about your social life.

CoD4 = Call of Duty 4; BF2 = (I think) Battlefield 2. Both are normally played online where players compete against each other and whatever. So you’re technically not “playing all alone.” So yeah…

I think underage drinking is more trouble than it’s worth. I really, really want to know why people do it, and I’ve asked a few, and they all don’t seem to know. Does anyone actually have an answer?

I’ve been in instances where we’d been having lots of fun, laughing and making jokes and being silly and what-not. Then someone would bring out the alcohol, and it would be either the same amount of fun as before or not as fun because people were worried about getting found out. Which they almost always are, actually.

eh i abhor wine. it tastes like cough syrup or somethin. i used to think beer’s nasty. now i’m okay w/it…i’m not a drinker tho. obviously i don’t attend parties that welcome drinkers who think it’s “cool” to get wasted and stuff. yea that’s it… it’s the COOL factor that compels ppl (teenagers and college students) to drink. that’s what i think
