Hello!
I am currently gathering all the documents and information needed in order to submit my Common App, including the translation of my transcript (I am an international student as the title states), but I have encountered one main problem. Common App, as you already may know, requires a counselor and a LOR (or two) from teachers. The thing here is that I graduated from high school two years ago, and I’m not sure if my former teachers are still working there. I have been taking drama classes (diplomas) since my graduation until now. My question is, can I ask some of my drama teachers to write my LOR’s? Can one of them be my counselor?
Thanks in advance!
Your former teachers do not have to still be at that school to be able to write your LORs. They just need to include information like “I was thur2030’s teacher from September 2015 to June 2016 at XXXX School.”
First thing is to see if the counselor and teachers are available. In many cases, there are student file notes and, eg, a new GC can offer some comment based on that. Unless you’re now applying to very focused drama programs, this post grad work wouldn’t relect your academic work and strengths in the core high school classes and that hs school community.
You haven’t provided enough or us to suggest more, yet. If this is for highly competitive colleges, you’ll need to find a way to bring your full app package up to par. Good luck.
