Alumni of non-football schools: Do you feel left out on fall Saturdays?

Why is this not a surprise??

Enjoyed it since I was a kid. These days a nice rice wine is perfect. Or good old Costco balsamic.

jym626, yes, about 18 months ago. I think he’s been great at NU (as he was at Williams). He’s been a big booster of sports at both institutions.

The first few lines from your linked article, barrons:

I stopped reading at this point. TMI. Ewwww.

jrpar- thanks for the update.

I have a friend from NU whose son is at West Point, and she is very conflicted as to who to root for!

Re LakeThePosts: I was there for the original laking-of-the-posts in September 1982 when NU finally won a game after umpteen losses. So there’s my place in sports history. So the heck with all of you!! LOL.

“You can confirm this. If you look at your urine two hours after you take vinegar, and you will find it to be more clear.”

That’s what passes for a pick-up line in Madison?..“Excuse me, miss, I seem to have forgotten my glasses…could you please help me determine if I drank enough vinegar two hours ago?”

2:12 p.m.: “Forget helping the homeless in Guatemala and the hungry in Nigeria – perhaps a better EC for an aspiring college applicant is starting a charity to raise funds to pay for these poor souls’ counseling needs.”

4:55 p.m.: “I was there for the original laking-of-the-posts in September 1982 when NU finally won a game after umpteen losses.”

Even if we had water-boarded her, we couldn’t have gotten the truth out of her any faster.

It was probably a Badger who invented the ol’, “Excuse me, miss, a jellyfish seems to have stung me on the back…”

probably explains why most of Barrons posts are so “tart”.

Like I really read and believe natural health nuts-just thought it was funny. But I have heard it was good for health and enjoy the taste so like most things–a little can’t hurt. Glad you enjoyed it.

Did someone say they enjoyed it?

So I guess we are to assume that you vote for Keeping Up With The Kardashians over, say, Turandot?

The wealthy CEO of a highly successful software company for which I used to work had a parterre box at the Metropolitan Opera. He and his wife were big fans. And when he wasn’t entertaining business connections in the box, he gave the tickets out to company employees. My favorite perk.

Barrons, just kidding about the vinegar posts. I enjoy your viewpoints, and being a Michigan native/resident, I feel very simpatico with our Midwestern brethren and sistren on the far side of Lake Michigan. One of the hardest choices I ever made was when I chose U of Toronto over Wisconsin-Madison for grad school (got rejected by UVa and Brown…in fact, at the time, the shortest period of time ever measured with scientific instruments was the segment of time between when the Brown philosophy department read my application and when they mailed my rejection letter).

When I was at BC, I had season tickets to both BC football and the Boston opera (absolutely true). It was equally tough to sneak a 12-pack into them.

H just received our BC football tickets last week. We do not have opera tickets and I’m not sure where to go to get them. We both love sitting in the stands on a beautiful fall afternoon - watching the game and soaking in the experience. We did not go to BC, but children did. I went to a huge football school, but it is too far away to get to for games very often, so BC fills that void.

I don’t feel left out on fall Saturdays because I have fall Sundays to watch the NFL, which is infinitely more exciting.

I also agree with Marian (who I think shares my alma mater):

I certainly don’t enjoy watching overpaid NFL players on a Sunday. Give me college football any day. They are totally more exciting, doesn’t cost an arm/leg to go see a game if your area has a college team.

I too prefer college, but long time basketball fan, not football.

If anyone has watched Caltech Hoops, I’m a fan in the audience.

Another college>>>NFL football. NFL is now overpaid guys who have to showboat after making an average play. College also has much more variety in style of play and usually the atmosphere is far more lively. No Jump Around in the NFL.
