I’m feeling worse and worse about my math class, Honors Algebra 2/Trig. I feel sick to my stomach that I kind of just gave up. I feel like I’m Allen Iverson.

I didn’t put as much effort as I could have into tests 1 and 2, and choked on both due to carelessness and lack of time.

On test 3, I just flat out didn’t do well even though I studied a lot.

On tests 4 and 5, I GAVE up, didn’t study or do any over the homework at all, and got a 45 and 20 percent, respectively.

Mathematically, I could have had a C if I had averaged an 88 on the past two tests, which was doable. Instead, I’m getting an F and retaking it.

So here are my questions:
Am I quitter/loser for choking and then giving up?

2) Putting aside how it looks, would it have showed more character just to get the C?

3) As for how it looks on a transcript, which one’s better? An F followed by an A in the retake, or a C? Are an F and a C equally bad?

I feel so bad that I just kind of quit. Until this year, I had never experienced much failure before. Should I even bother studying for my math final since I’ll finish with an F either way?

Yes

Would it have showed more character to have put some effort into a math class? Yes.

That depends on if your school shows that you got an F. If colleges see that you got an F and retook the class to get an A, it will look bad. Are an F and a C equally bad? Umm…clearly not. A c is average while an F is complete failure of a class.

I don’t see anyway you can construe what you did into a “good decision”

Yes. We all feel like that sometimes, but you just have to overcome it sometimes. I just for sure got a B in Honors chemistry, even if there’s still a month and finals. Mathematically, I can’t get an A. You just have to fight to the end man. It’s a war between you and your teacher/classmates. Die hard.

You always put the most effort in that you can. No exceptions.

I have no idea.

A B’s alright as long as you only get 3-4. I’m getting a B at best in AP Chemistry. But you know what?

I had an F in that class. I battled my way up to a B, and I’m proud of it. Maybe it’s not as high as I would have liked, but I proved my AP Chemistry teacher wrong when he said I belonged in Honors.
