wel well well
holy ****! im not PrincetonUSigh2…im on my friend’s computer and i let it log me in without looking at the username well, still i would love answers.
and i will explain this to my friend later :/

If you apply early decision, probably. If I were you I would really boost up my SAT scores to at leat a 1900 and apply early decision if I really wanted to get in.

Your GPA is about average. Your SAT is significantly below average. Your EC’s are practically nonexistent. NYU is definitely a reach school for you.

I don’t think the NYU precollege programs makes any difference at all. The one kid I knew in HS who did it ended up at Boston U after getting rejected from NYU (but he had bad grades; you don’t). Funnily enough I’ve never met anyone at NYU who did the precollege program. What exactly did they say that led you to believe you’re guaranteed acceptance? Is the precollege program very selective? Sorry I don’t know much about it. It sounds like another tool NYU uses to make money.

Idk, it’s hard to say. So many people with better stats get rejected each year, but people with low SAT scores get in too. Being hispanic is kind of a hook and maybe the Precollege program is as well?

The NYU Precollege is just a summer course program for those in the tristate area (10th and 11th graders)
its not selective at all actually.
everyone i know who applied to it has gotten in (no essay is required. no real hard application)
one course runs for $4,000 though some get scholarships.
to me, its more of a money-making thing.

you dont hear about many NYU students who attended the precollege be/c it’s exclusively for those in ny, nj. ct.

a lot of schools offer summer college courses to high school students. Columbia has a few programs in the city and so does Harvard. Attending these programs will not guarantee you a spot. If you get an A, it will show the adcom you are academically capable of completing college level courses.

If you say that you hate gays, Israelis, and think that women are not equal to men - you sound like you are guaranteed acceptance to NYU Abu Dhabi

as others mentioned, it’s not selective and I doubt it even gives you a hook in the app process, although maybe in the sense that you might write a better essay about why you want to be there.
also, NYU gives horrible aid, just FYI

The NYU precollege thing probably helps but again, your standardized scores are about 400 points from the average, and you don’t have that many EC’s although the ones you listed are good. Hopefully you are applying to an arts area that requires a portfolio because as it stands, NYU would be a reach.

@PrincetonUSigh2: You need an SAT score of at least 1900, that if you’re applying ED, otherwise you should get more (like 2100 or sthg), the same goes for the GPA I think (although yours is pretty good, it shouldn’t be a big problem). I don’t think the pre-college thing guarantees you admission, but I think it’s an advantage.

@rainbow: now it’s confirmed, u’re not only a ■■■■■, but a really prejudicious, childish, and ignorant one. Well that’s part of being a ■■■■■, but it’s smthg to be mentionned.

NYU is highly selective, so you’re going to want to raise both your grades and your test scores, especially if you’re going to be applying RD. I applied RD 2013, and was wait-listed. I’m a Hispanic female with tribal affiliation, had 3.85 UW, 12 APs, excellent recommendations, 2050 SATs and a 32 ACT.

However, I applied to Stern. I don’t know how selective CAS is for regular decision students. I ended up applying as a transfer student to CAS and got in for the fall 2010 semester. Apparently, CAS is one of the easier schools to get into.

I never said that it was the easiest. Most people that I know, however, would say that CAS is easier to be accepted to than Stern, but when you compare it to Steinhardt, it’s a totally different issue. I know some students who will rank CAS 2nd in terms of difficulty, and then others who will say that it isn’t challenging at all.

I’d say you’re a mid-reach. You’re below average as far as numbers go for both the SAT and GPA. NYU precollege isn’t going to guarantee anything.
