Every day that I go on CC there are always people who talk about their activities and their always about state championships in stuff like robotics or debate. I feel like there are a lot of these kids and I probably won’t get into a college that I’m aiming for like University of Chicago. My high school isn’t so great and does not have excellent scores or good student teams like Academic Decathlon or Debate. Will colleges reject me because of that?

If you’re doing it for prestige, we can only hope you get rejected.

Last time I checked, colleges accept a student…not the student’s whole school.

Why do people think all extracurriculars are somehow sponsored by the school? Most of the really impressive/unique ones aren’t.
Colleges will consider what school you went to, but you should have been taking more initiative outside of school.

I don’t see why everyone on this website has a problem with people doing things solely to get into college. Getting into a prestigious college so you can get a better education and accomplish your future goals is a noble pursuit by itself.
