Am I retarding my social life?

Yes, you’re right you can have fun whilst being sober. Your personal reasons aren’t really that good expect for cigarettes. Both alcohol (drunk moderately or occasionally) and marijuana without tobacco can be okay for your health. Also, who cares what they equate it to, it’s your definition that matters in the end. Try it, drink/smoke it but don’t go overboard.

Well of course don’t go overboard. That’s what I meant. I don’t mind drinking, until it gets out of hand & you lose all self-control. Most of my friends get drunk like every weekend & at the rate they’re goin at, it seems like someones gonna get alcohol poisoning soon or a damaged liver within ten yrs. I know ppl who have & I just don’t want to end up like that. That’s all. And as for mj, it may not be a huge health danger, but it kills your brain cells in the long run. I don’t want to be stupid is all I’m sayin.

Apparently buying things from Sinn Fein flags you as “supporting terrorist activity.”

Well, first off, if your “friend” is trying to force you into something consistently, then chances are you should get new friends.
Also, second off, don’t act like you’re not a prude. You literally just called the activities that you choose to abstain from “hedonistic,” as if you have a moral superiority over everyone else.

When people say moderate consumption of alcohol is good for your health, they aren’t talking about quantities that partying high schoolers would drink…

And smoking marijuana is bad for your health. At the very least, you’re inhaling smoke, which is bad for the lungs and brain. People will debate whether or not the drug has negative impacts on your health, but smoking anything is unequivocally bad.

You are making the choices that work for you. Your “friends” shouldn’t be too quick to judge. I respect you for not doing all of those things, and not being easily influenced. That’s respectable  part of growing up is trying new things, legal or not. Your friends are probably just starting to come into their own and experiment with their new freedom. Don’t give into them though, if they’re your friends they will come back to you in the end.
