<p>The shootings at NIU occured yesterday. The rampage was the fourth shooting at a U.S. school in a week. Four in a week. </p>
<p>I am just really disgusted by the world for some reason right now. </p>
<p>We have mass genocide going on in Africa and all over the world, massive AIDs epidemics, school shootings, terrorist attacks, drugs, child trafficking, muder every second on the news, war, rape, and everything under the sun.</p>
<p>I know, I know welcome to the world. I have always known all of these things. But, it just seems like no matter what, you really can never be safe. I just pity the sad world that we are now in. And want to seriously cry because of these things. </p>

<p>the world consists of people like you and me and him and her. we are no better, are no worse. we are disgusted at humanity. we ARE humanity. there is no peace without rebellion. there is no conformity without nonconformity. nothing any of us can do, really.</p>
<p>There is all of that stuff, but you have to remember that you’re much more likely to die of heart disease or cancer than any of that. In fact, if you really think about it, the world really isn’t all that bad.</p>
<p>Yea, I completely understand what you mean. It’s rather frightening that there’s been so many school shootings recently. And the other global issues that are happening around the world, I know that people would say that this is what the world is like, but it is really sad that it has to be this way.</p>
<p>It really bothers me how unaffected I have been over this last shooting. Virginia Tech really got to me emotionally. This, I am very disturbed to report, has left me feeling completely apathetic.</p>
<p>The most efficient solo serial killer was a South Korean policeman who went door to door with a shotgun and grenades. He killed 57 people before he killed himself.</p>
<p>There will always be nutballs who snap and kill people. However there will also always be people like Gandhi and Mother Teresa. Who their equivalent now is, I’m not sure, but they’re out there.</p>

<p>I definitely understand what the OP is feeling. Sometimes the world seems really disgusting, but I think the important thing is realizing how messed up the world is and fighting to fix it.</p>
<p>The stories like that get attention and sell. If there was a news channel or newspaper that only had good news, not many people would watch. Blood and violence sells.</p>
<p>How amazing that school shootings make the news (and rightfully so) but so many people get lit up in Compton, Watts, etc. and it never even gets a mention! They hesitate to even send police vehicles into minority neighborhoods, but they’ll send firefighters, ambulance, and cops to little car accidents. College shootings will get press attention for months. </p>
<p>The things that go on in parts of Africa, South America, and Asia every day would make your stomach churn, but they never get a mention yet they’re a millions times worse than school shootings (which are still bad, but c’mon!). </p>
<p>The world’s a ****ed up place, but my goal in life is to make a lasting effect for the better on all of the world’s major problems.</p>
