Am I the only one that is super-picky about sheets?

I’m desperate to find a set of sheets that are just…cool & crisp. Like the old fashioned ones. We’ve been using a set of Wamsutta Pinpoints, from BBB…over and over, and it’s time for a new set. We don’t like Sateen, or Jersey, or Flannel. I’ve been doing some online research and it looks like I don’t need to spend a fortune on them.

What do you like to sleep on? Where do you get them? Recommendations?

I want the same and would love to have them ironed by someone other than myself
We have a set from BBB that are ok–I cannot seem to find the label to say what manufacturer. I will watch to see if you get any good advice.

I just bought two sets from Lands’ End. They seem nice, but I haven’t yet subjected my entire body to them. I’ll let you know.

I’ve been looking too. We have old fashioned cotton percale sheets… But they are getting a little long in the tooth. We have replaced pillowcases several times. I have seen some sheets for $100 a set, but I’m not really wanting to spend that much. Is that what it takes? We got DS some sateen sheets, two sets. One set pilled like crazy and the other set remains smooth as can be.

I do not like the sateen, microfiber, flannel, or jersey sheets.

I just spent the $100 on sheets because I’m picky and the little pilling nub things really bother me. I have’t had them even 3 months and I’ve actually considered taking them back (I’ve never done something like that before, but they are something like 600 thread count, and that seems like a lot of money to me, to be pilling or whatever after only a few washes). So I too would like some recommendations.

1214mom,
IF you bought them from Bed, Bath and Beyond, then they will take them back. They are quite excellent about returns.

Thanks. It was actually Macy’s, but I suspect they will take them back also.

I often buy the Ralph Lauren sheets from TJ Maxx for our beds. I think I paid $49 fora queen sheet set - they wear well but do get that nice cotton softness that I like. Not flannel just a good cotton sheet.

I love good quality flannel in the cold months…sateen in the warm months. Simple as that. Nothing poor quality that will not stay on the bed for the fitted sheet

abasket…were the RL sheets cool? or just soft? (I know, I sound whacko) Sometimes sheets that are really soft are just…soft…and hot.

I bought some Marimekko sheets from Crate & Barrel, because I have a fondness for Marimekko from childhood, but I cant say the sheets are above average.
I like flannel from Garnet hill, but dont like jersey or knit.
Linen, i heard is nice but don’t tell my great aunt but I iron my sheets maybe once a year, not every day.
( i made a baby quilt out of this one)

I’ve gotten get sets from My Habit,

MYHABIT[/url”>http://www.myhabit.com/]MYHABIT

sort of an overstock thing from Amazon. They don’t always have them, and they are still $$ with their discount, but they feel great, and don’t slip off, which drives me NUTZ!

I have been very happy with our high-thread count sheets from Costco and Sams Club. I think they have been in the 600 thread count or higher range. Cost around $60-70 for queen.

Another issue I have…We have a regular double bed, not a queen. Is it my imagination or are there less regular full bed sheets? They are very hard to find.

^^^

Try Penneys online.

I am also quite picky about my sheets. I bought these this summer and really like them:

[Egyptian Cotton Sheets | White Sheets](<a href=“The Best of Vermont from The Vermont Country Store to your door!”>The Best of Vermont from The Vermont Country Store to your door!)

They’re not cheap, but I was tired of sheets falling apart or stretching out. They do come out of the dryer a little wrinkled, but once they’re on the bed, its not a problem.

Any suggestions for good flannel sheets? Mine are worn out. I have a problem finding sheets that fit our older, thinner mattress. Many manufacturers boast that their sheets fit mattresses 16-18" deep which just means that the fitted sheet doesn’t fit too tightly. The sheets I bought from Vermont Country Store also came sized for “thinner” mattresses, but they don’t have a flannel version.

Sometimes I get lucky at Tuesday Morning, but bloomies is consistently the superior sheets, with deep enough width to stay fitted. Their own brand and RL 600+ are really good. I’m using charisma set bought years ago. Strange as it sounds, I got the worm better sheets for his b/d, coinciding with his first Q bed. He is more particular than I am, whether with sheets or clothing fabrics.

Mansfield, I get great bargains at Tuesday morning, but they are most often not deep enough. They would probably be perfect for your older mattress.

Look into Thomas Lee sheets. Crisp, heavy percale, not cheap but last forever. No piling and I’ve had them for over five years.

Bookworm, thanks for the Tuesday Morning tip. There used to be one in the nearby shopping center, but it closed. I’ll have to find out where the next closest store is located.

In the summer I am comfortable with the RL sheets- our house does not have central air and I still want a sheet on and these are comfortable. But I think they are soft - soft like a comfy pair of jeans soft. But at Tj Of course, you have to not be too picky about color/ pattern.
