The new season begins tonight at 8 PM EST. They take off around the world from Venice Beach, CA. The teams are made up of the usual suspects plus a radio station DJ and NFL cheerleaders. Give me an “A”…give me an “M”…
“What’s that spell?”
It spells excitement and a good way to start every fall weekend.
I’ll be watching! Love watching along with all of you! Still not excited about AR on Friday nights, but I’ll dvr and either watch tonight or sometime this weekend.
Oh, I could never multitask. People laugh at my love of the game. Someone asked me last week, “Do you still have a kid at this school?” Uh, noooooo. But I still love HS football.
I have to say it would have been “not right” if the couple who tried the FF got eliminated - a task that relies on weather is quite a risk. The guy was kind of annoying me in the tasks (he stood to the side in the puzzle task and just seemed to wait for her to finish it!) but I’m glad they made it through.
Man, can you imagine going to your first task and having to put a white bikini on?!!! YIKES!
Gotta say, wasn’t a fan of the TMZ couple so no love lost there.
I was super happy that the black dancer guys made it through - I hope they get to see some of the world.
I liked the tv reporter couple - they seemed sweet. The mom and son I’m not sure yet - not sure about her…
And also the cheerleaders were sure being cheerleaders, but I was glad they pulled together at the end.
I was surprised the little guys succeeded at volleyball - good for them
The couples were more interesting that I expected.
Rio was BEAUTIFUL! They did a good job of introducing the couples - I felt like I knew who everyone was from the get-go.
I didn’t think that the FF couple remembered to do the helicopter ride, so I thought they would be eliminated because of the omission. Seems like they did though. I guess I was surfing the web a bit too much and missed it.
Has anyone ever revealed how they do customs? All the couples seem to pour out of the airport doors in the same order they came off the planes, and I wonder if the game includes a rule that everyone waits the same amount of time in the customs line and then they are release in the same order by the show. There is NO WAY that everyone takes the same amount of time in customs, especially with their carryon backpacks, their passports, their previous travels to countries. I seem to always pick the slowest lines going through, of course.
lamom, the fast forward couldn’t be done because it was too windy to do a kite sailing event, so they had to go back and do the helicopter ride; lost about an hour they said.
I wondered the same thing. Here’s an interview excerpt where Phil discusses it –
As a former Customs inspector, I know that the biggest hassles can involve the film and sound equipment having to get cleared into and out of each country. Lots of pre-arrangements have to be made!
I wondered if the Brazilian volleyball players started taking it easy on the contestants. Some of the teams were awful at volleyball, yet they seemed to ultimately score 6 points before the Brazilians scored 18. Did any team have to play more than one game, or was that ignored in production?
So glad AR is back!! I think the mother/son combo look a little creepy (was it the TMZ couple that said they looked a little “Bates Motel”?). I actually liked the TMZ couple, thought they were kind of funny, so I am kind of bummed they lost, although they definitely deserved it. I think that for the volleyball challenge, if you had any sort of athletic ability, it was do-able since you could use your hands, and they could not. Rio did look beautiful.
I’m enjoying this season. Sad to see the break dancers go. They have such a wonderful attitude and I’m glad they got a chance to see a bit of the world.
Abasket- I agree the Mom is definitely odd.
