Amazing Race Season 22 tonight! Spoiler thread!!

GladGradDad, this will be the first season so I don’t know the details other than that the destinations will all be within Canada.

Absolutely. Probably more people have been affected/eliminated due to stupid mistakes than for any other reason. That and patience are two attributes that will take a team far into the race.

I don’t like when they do the last elim and the finale is in one night - would rather it be split in two.

^^I agree, abasket.

Sad to see the YouTubers gone. Gonna go with my first “like” team now, the Roller Derby Moms

I also thought the barrel rolling clue said they had to “roll” the barrels and was waiting for the penalty.

The haggis making challenge was sort of disgusting, and I was impressed that everyone actually tasted it (some more than once!) without balking.

I hope the finale has some really wonderful challenges (mental and luck are my favorites) and not just a foot race to the end.

Where is their final destination city and which team is from there? ;-)

My TV tells me the final destination is Washington DC. I don’t see that any team is from there. Am I missing an inside joke, or is that a reference to previous winners?

I would love to see the roller derby moms win too, though I am not optimistic. They need to step it up, ask for directions when they are lost and be smarter about travel plans. I guess Max and Katie would be my second choice.

Yay. The winners were my favorites.

Bates lived in Wash D.C. for awhile. Many finals take place in one of the three finalists hometowns.

This is the first time that all three teams pulled out notebooks filled with their info about every country. I actually thought the president was waiting for them in the Oval Office.

Finally my favorite team won! It’s been a few years since I could say that.

I thought that these last two legs were one of the most interesting in a long time. Am I mistaken or did they do the spy and briefcases in a previous year?

I couldn’t believe they all thought Obama was waiting at the WH to take a pic with them. If nothing else the address of 1100 Penn should have tipped them off. I thought they’d have a pic taken with a cardboard cutout of Obama (like I did) which are scattered at different places around DC.

The stop in London was kind of a non-event since it was book-ended by catch-up travel and wasn’t really a challenge.

I was wondering what the random tourists must have thought when they saw all these random briefcase carriers wandering around the tidal basin. That would have been funny.

I’m glad the guys won but would have been happy for the roller moms to win also.

^^ I was laughing about all the “Men in Black” too! If I’d been there I would have thought the UFOs had landed!

Bates and Anthony handled the last 2 legs very well and deserved to win.

S2 went to college and lives in DC, so I was hoping they’d have to negotiate the Metro or something like that. I didn’t think Bates’ familiarity with DC had anything to do with their win. They just seemed to handle the challenges better…or lucked out at the Tidal Basin finding their briefcase faster.

I didn’t see too many tourists around the Tidal Basin. Must have been because of the time of year.

Yes, they did the briefcase thing in a previous year. Maybe around the Reflecting Pool at the Lincoln Memorial?

I also found it funny they thought the President was meeting with them, assuming too that it would be a cardboard cutout. As soon as they read “1100 Pennsylvania,” I knew.

On a personal level, as we watched them around DC, I told my daughter, “HEY, that will be your new hometown next year!” (Kind of, anyway, as she heads off to GMU in Fairfax.)

We’ve been watching old seasons of TAR on Hulu+. It’s been taking me a minute to remember which season is which, as we’re watching several hours during the week. Soi far, our favorite has been Season 5.

I think this was one of my favorite TAR’s. I ended up liking most of the teams, none did anything terribly evil, and the challenges were interesting without being disgusting like some previous food challenges. It was fun seeing the ending in Washington DC, where my daughter lives!

Yay for Bates and Anthony! They’re good guys and they ran the race well. They also did an excellent job of keeping the win a secret unlike another team I knew who won a few years ago. I agree that the two hours last night were interesting with fun challenges and it was an exciting finale. It was a good season! I wish that all of you could watch the Canadian TAR with me this summer so we could discuss it here. :)

Okay, adding to my list (in post 138) of prerequisites for being on the show:

-know what color chartreuse is

Desirable, but not required:

-know how to pronounce “consomme”

Bates and Anthony were the best kind of racers–kind to one another and to the other racers and not a single “ugly American” moment.

^^^ yes! (10 char)

Finally caught up! I thought the 2 episode finale was spectacular. Right to the end. While I never favored the Hockey Brothers, I would have been ok with any of the final 3 winning, with the married couple at the bottom of my list. I still was rooting (loudly) for the Roller Derby Moms, but they really didn’t run these last legs well at all.

An amazing surprise to me is how much my grandson loves this show. I sent away for the 1st Season on DVD so we can watch it together this summer.

Finally caught up today. Loved that they were in DC. I’m in he minority in that while the PLACES this season were magnificent (Tahiti, Africa, etc.) the teams were very BLAH to me. Once Conner and Dave were out, I was pretty indifferent about most of the teams. While the roller derby moms seemed nice and all, them in the final3 ??really ?? They didn’t win a single leg!!

Three wishes for future seasons:
To have a family edition again. I heard the producers thought it was a flop but we LOVED that season!
To have a celebrity season- surely some “names” would like to compete.
To have a US edition- like they did in the family edition.so fun to see USplaces that you l k ow or have visited is enjoyable.
