Amazing Race

Bumping this up…to say that I was sorry to see Mark and Bill eliminated last night, particularly due to them misreading a clue. In addition to Nick and Starr, so far I see Toni and Dallas becoming a favorite team. I don’t really have any strong feelings in either direction for any of the other teams, although Kelly and Christy are a little annoying. Have really enjoyed getting a glimpse of Brazil and Bolivia so far.

After last week when Nick went back on his word to the Frat Guys, I’ve disliked him ever since. I know its a game but I thought that was very snarky. For some reason, I just don’t have a favorite in this one - yet.

I like the mom and son. Dislike the seperated couple, the divorcees (too whiny) and the brother sister.
Sad to see the nerds go. My self-proclaimed nerd son and I were both cheering for them.

Kelly and Christy are annoying. They must have had truly nasty divorces! I too, was sorry to see Mark and Bill leave. I usually pull for the underdogs.
I think the blondes from S.C. are funny. They seem kinda clueless and yet they keep hangin’ in there.

There are many I’m NOT rooting for - no clear favorite here either, though I’m leaning towards the mother and son. I can handle the “cheating” husband - he seems like a semi reasonable guy - but the scorned wife - just about my least favorite. It’s all good while they are winning; can’t wait until they hit a big snag!

Really, how could they not have read those directions properly!!???

I also can’t really latch onto any particular favorite. I wish Kynt and Vixen were back or any of the others from last season. They seemed all to be so interesting and varied. Many of these teams, this season, all seem to be pretty similar. There is no real personality emerging yet. I guess I am kind of rooting for the mom and son team. Wasn’t the Cholita fighting about the weirdest thing you ever saw last night?!

Did anyone watch last night? I’m wondering why Kelly and Christy weren’t assessed a penalty for not following the clue instructions to drive to the summit in that park.

The fast forward gave me new respect for Ken and Tina. Other than rooting for Nick and Starr because of a connection there, I am not finding this season all that interesting. I can’t pinpoint what it is.

I think they only give a penalty when it gives people an unfair time advantage. K and C actually gave themselves a penalty in terms of time. I like the son and his Mom best. I do think that ken and Tina were AMAZING in their climb in the wind!

One complaint I have is that on the East coast the show is almost always delayed because of sports. Why every year does this have to happen with this fabulous show! I now have to tape that show and cold case just to make sure I don’t lose the ending on my DVR recording!

Laura, what you say about the penalty rule makes sense. You’d think I’d know that after watching the show for so many years! :)

I agree about the issue with football delaying the start. It’s definitely annoying. As a result, I’ve dvr’d Cold Case each week because I watch Dexter and it begins at 10.

I’m hoping that TAR becomes a little more exciting soon. It doesn’t seem to have the sense of urgency that has been in evidence in previous seasons. Too many ‘bunching’ opportunites and everyone on the same flight, maybe. Next week they’re in Cambodia which should be interesting.

Cambodia sounds like fun! In the past there were so many overemotional teams (within the team itself) which gave the show drama…although sometimes too much! Except for the team that is dating long distance they all seem to truly be happy partners.
I’m not really complaining…LOL

How cool was it that Phil’s dad was there? “Welcome to New Zealand. I’m Phil’s dad.”

Missed what he said at first and rewound it and loved that he was phil’s dad!

I’ve wanted my very fit husband to go with my son for years…I think they would be GREAT at it. great with directions, great familiarity with traveling the world, both very fit.

Anyone else still watching? I was happy to see Kelly and Christy eliminated last week. I’ve been watching TAR for many years and don’t remember a team who made as many dumb mistakes as this one. Read the clues, people, it’s not that difficult!

Still rooting for Nick/Starr and Toni/Dallas, and still disliking Terrence/Sarah.

Oh, and I continue to enjoy the great recaps done by TelevisionWithoutPity.

Very much still watching! Not sorry to see them go either. They annoyed me.
Rooting as well for your two top teams! Not long now!
I hope they’re working on another one after this. It’s always such a long wait between the series.

Those are my top two, as well, and, yes, glad to see the girls go.

I like Terrence and Sarah, kind of. I mean, they’re entertaining at least. My 16yo and I are amazed how she’s managed to learn “fast!” in every language known to man.

I’m still watching…still don’t care for Starr/Nick… :)

Still watching - love the show, but just not as attached to couples as I have been in the past…I’m rooting for Dallas and Toni - please let someone else get first besides Star and Bro…

AlwaysAMom, I have never watched this show and so I don’t follow it. But I am reading your little updates anyway, :p, just because Nick and my D know each other from college, plus his younger sister was in a show with my D a few summers ago.

alwaysamom, I’m reading that right now. I always forget to, but it’s so funny. And I see the writer also has noticed Sarah’s linguistic genius!

Glad to see the girls go also. I got really tired of hearing them say what “strong independent women” they were only to flub up constantly. The challenge in India where they had to climb the ladder and get the clue while locals were pelting them with paint was hilarious. I don’t mind Sarah but Terence whines and complains too much. Sarah is always having to pump him up and tell him how great he’s doing. He needs to “man up” as my boys would say. I’m rooting for Dallas and his Mom.
