I am really trying to lighten my reliance on Amazon as a shopping source. I haven’t purchased from there in several months, which is a huge behavior shift for me. I would like Air Tags for our upcoming overseas travels, and put them in my cart due to the great sale price, along with protein powder that is discounted 30%. Then I saw numerous social media posts about avoiding Prime Day… so I checked Best Buy for the Air Tags and they are on sale for same price as Amazon. And my life won’t change if I don’t save the $10 on the protein powder (haven’t checked other sources for it yet.) So my cart is now empty and I feel good about that! My D has been anti-Prime Day for several years because of the added stress it puts on Amazon’s low-wage workers. So she’ll be happy to know I changed my mind! Certainly my non-purchase is not going to change the world or the size of JB’s wallet, but I find that being more mindful of who I support and how is my own small piece of resistance to the billionaire stranglehold we are experiencing. Many retailers are having their own sales at this time (DSW sale code is currently “primedeal” - through 7/11), so just a suggestion that there may be other places to get good deals on the things you need.
A 4-pack of AirTags is $65 at Costco.com.
When I was price checking some game controllers for the kiddos a year or so back on black Friday, Costco’s price was also better than Amazon. Even with the padding they do to the prices to cover “free” shipping (and yes amazon does it too, but Costco’s seems to be easier to “see”.)
Costco also has black Bose headphones for $199 ($219 at Amazon as showing for me).
Thanks, I had the air tags in my Costco cart but they weren’t showing the sale price.
I ordered them from Costco and canceled my amazon order.
Another plus of delaying shipping, I can cancel if I find a better price. Or a better retailer
You guys are a bad influence. Since reading this thread I bought deodorant, the jigsaw puzzle board thing (although that’s a gift either for Christmas or if we borrow the mountain house I’ll leave it as a thank you), compost bags for the kitchen (just because I needed them), and something I can’t remember already. Oh, and the TV that was in my cart - my bedroom TV is 15 years old and not a smart TV so I can’t stream on it and since I don’t have cable my viewing options are slim.
The Air fryer I left in my cart. I think they might be cheaper at Macy’s with coupons. I hate the pressure to buy things.
I bought an airfyer last week as mine broke. The oven decided to be wonky also so I had an urgent need.
The prices were better last week.
My oven is a smart oven, why that is a thing, I have no idea
I’m eyeing the puzzle board thing too…
Will someone please send link to puzzle thing? Thanks
I had ordered a small bullet blender from Amazon and canceled as it was less at Target. I’m trying to avoid both Amazon and Target and have cut back tremendously. I wanted a pair of swim shorts from Carve Designs and they were cheaper on the Carve Design website though I had to spend $99 for free shipping.
Amazon must be aware of the Costco price on AirTags because I just bought a 4 pack on Amazon for $64.99
On Amazon, search jigsaw puzzle table and several different ones will come up, many on sale. @abasket had one as an example above and I think that’s the one I got, for $43.xx. There are some with legs like a real table, some with covers, drawers, some like easels…just ask and Amazon will provide.
There is a jigsaw puzzle thread and several of us were thinking about them. I got it for my sister who likes to do puzzles as a group at Christmas. @thumper1 actually tried one out and liked it.
Target, not Amazon. But I just bought a 3 qt/9x13 baking dish for $12. They’re usually $20-28.
I think you deserved to upgrade a 15 yr old tv!
This is the puzzle table I had on my list - this one is 1000 piece size - the link should have other sizes too
I would like it but have held off…
I’m bringing a 1000 piece puzzle on our 7 person family vacation next week - will we have time to do this one too???
I have upgraded it twice! The first one I used for a few years and then the picture went out and I just had audio. So my daughter bought me a new one and it wouldn’t stay programed. The 30 days to return was running out so I returned to Amazon and pulled out the old one again.
I’ll not get rid of this one until I’m sure the new one will work, and even then I’ll probably just store it for a while. I am incredibly cheap (although I did get for the $99 tv rather than the cheapest $70 one). Sometimes I take it to my daughter’s if I dog sit because she doesn’t have cable and doesn’t have local channels and I like watching the news. The cheapness is generational.
I added a google chrome stick and an antenna to our not so smart tv. It works great. But, don’t let me talk you out of a new TV.
Thanks to y’all, I have already started my Christmas shopping. The puzzle thing is awesome and will eliminate the need for a zillion boxes for sorting…
I read that amazon prime day sales are down considerably. Whether or not that is true, I’m not sure I believe much of what I read anymore, so take that information for what it’s worth
Saying that, there are more deals today.
If you are in the market for a new coffee pot, they have a Moccamaster for $167. I have never ever seen one for that price. It’s in the red color. I love my present coffee pot, I would be so tempted if I was.
Their coffee pots are usually gorgeous, pieces of art!
