I bundle my orders and get free shipping all the time. It takes a few days longer but I can wait most of the time.
Now that they have cancelled Mozart in the Jungle, I may need to rethink and bundle purchases, use Target, etc. I would have felt like a $10 increase was reasonable, but $20 is a big jump percentage wise, IMO.
It’s a high increase, but I use it so much that it’s still a great deal for me. Over a 100 orders per year and regular use of streaming.
Like everyone else I think the increase is too high, but will keep using Amazon. Between H, myself and my two D’s we receive at least 2 packages a week. Being able to watch the videos is an added bonus.
“Over a 100 orders per year”
Wow! Is this all personal use or are you ordering for a business as well?
Personal. I do most of my non-clothing shopping through Amazon. Household products, pantry items, gifts, things for my D at college, etc. Clothing and fresh food items are the only things I don’t order through Amazon.

Amazon tells me I had 244 orders in 2017. Kid off to college who also uses Amazon, so running at a faster pace in 2018. I would like to thank the rest of you for subsidizing my Prime deliveries.
Checking my account… with the old house we are remodeling, I bought this and that and the kitchen sink! Actually, 5 sinks - three kitchen (one went back - chipped!) and 2 bath.
Do you guys order one item at a time? I tend to do my purchasing in batches.
What do you do with 244 cardboard boxes?
Join up with other to split the cost of the membership. My kids use my membership all the time. I get to see what they order but I try not to comment (a $5.99 cookie cutter?)
Many of the things I bought were shipped in envelopes (small items) or in their factory packaging (UPS sticker stuck on the side). If I order one item and then a few hours later I order another, Amazon usually figures out how to ship them in one box.
I ordered a snow shovel once and it arrived… as a snow shovel with a shipping label on the back of the green shovel blade part.
What seems wasteful is when you get the small item in the oversized box. That happens more often than it should.
Yes, one day our S got 100 boxes from amazon. They barely all fit into his apartment! Sometimes he will get multiple different boxes, often each with only one or two small items.
I sometimes order small quantities when I need something and don’t want to wait, or don’t have anything else to order. DH wanted a particular wallet that should be arriving today. My guess is it will be in an envelope or perhaps a small box. I have sometimes ordered several items at once and they tell me they are coming in separate shipments.
100 boxes in a day?! How did that happen?
I have Prime for the exact reason that when I think of the item I need and find it on their to my liking, I purchase it. No waiting in batches. I certainly might order a couple things at a time - if they are on my list of need that week. H sells stuff on eBay so he recycles the boxes.
We have it. I think it just encourages more spending…seems we get boxes daily.
S was sheepish and said he thinks he must have clicked wrong quantity for the 100 items.
I dislike the “add-on item” thing. I understand that it may cost them more to skip an inexpensive item, but heck, thats why we pay the prime membership.
OK seeing how much people ordered I went on Amazon to check mine. I had 113 orders in 2017 and already 35 for 2018. Between Amazon and Costco they get all our money
