I’ll pay the increase. I like having the option to get something quickly and a few of the other perks, too. Yes, I would prefer it not to go up that much, but over the course of a year I can absorb it.
Anyone having problems logging into their prime account? S has the account that we all use and this past week, everytime my daughter or I have tried to login, it is prompting us to verify our identity. Wants to send out a one time code that we would then enter to login - the code is sent to his email address. Very irritating.
I live in rural Maine and have to get stuff shipped that most people can just run out and buy. Plus everyone in family except for my daughter uses my Prime account. Amazon loses money on us.
We did have one colossal screw up, though. Everyone has their credit card on my Prime account, so you have to remember to click the right one when ordering. My husband forgot, and my son, who as a student has limited funds, was the last to use the account. H ended up charging a lot of stuff for his business to my son’s credit card. They’re still figuring out how much H owes S!
@arisamp I have been able to log on whenever I wanted, as has my D, without needing a code.
It is asking us to enter the password every single time where it didn’t usually ask us for that if we had the remember me box checked.
My H was logging into an Amazon account he has separate from my Prime account a couple of weeks ago. He hadn’t logged into it for awhile (I don’t know how long) - he got the same prompt and had to enter a code sent to a phone # on the account.
They are probably going to tighten up on the number of people who can use one Prime account.
Amazon has a right way and a wrong way to share a Prime account – see: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201910370
If you are logging into son’s account and frustrated because the security code is going elsewhere… that would mean you didn’t set up the shared account the way that Amazon wants. The Amazon “Household” account is restricted to two adults— so doen’t really support the whole family sharing among parents & college kids.
But that’s the system they have and if they see logins on an account from different IP’s that is definitely one thing that would tend to trigger security prompts.
I know it’s annoying… but think how annoying it would be if some unauthorized person logged into your account and ordered a bunch of stuff shipped to them on your stored credit card. I think Amazon requires re-enntry of a password to add a new shipping address… but if your password were compromised that wouldn’t help… hence the value of a secondary security measure.
I use it as a convenience. I had 4 foot surgeries in last 2 years so it is hard to get out and about. So instead of giving hubby my shopping list I can get what I want. Trust me he prefers it that way.

Amazon prime has been a literal lifesaver while I’ve been sick these last few years- especially since I got sick right after we bought our first house.
Mr R is great for shopping for a lot of things, but being colorblind and all, he wasn’t real helpful with picking out things we needed for our house :). Plus we get things like some of my meds, the dog food, etc delivered to us monthly without having to think about it.
Prime has truly been a lifechanger for many disabled people.
Fortunately our Prime account didn’t change when they did the last update, but I’d probably re-up even with the increase.
