Add-on is the name of the crappy program that is making negative inroads into Prime. Just like the sales tax policies were not bad enough. Just adding that comment about taxes to irritate the greedy tax collectors among us. ;)

Without thinking I renewed my son’s student Amazon Prime this year for $39. Within a week I regretted it. I should have let his expire, gotten my own Amazon Prime with streaming for $79 and ditched Netflix. I believe we can cancel his subscription and get a prorated refund but I don’t know that I want the hassle. I’ll probably just wait until next summer to let his expire and do it then.

My kids get all their textbooks there. My hs son is notorious for letting me know 3 days before he needs a book for AP Comp. The local stores are usually sold out by then and I have zero desire to go zipping around looking for it when I can get it shipped for free from Amazon. I can also find things there I can’t find elsewhere, or that are out of stock at my local stores. I’ve been known to ship things to S2 at school when he mentions a noisy first year dorm (earplugs), or recurrent bloody noses (aloe saline nose spray). It’s far less expensive then me getting something locally and shipping off a package. Yes, I could let him fend for himself, and in the vast majority of ways he does, but a mother is allowed a bit of ‘mothering’ now and then. If sending saline spray via Amazon at 2am makes me feel better so be it. ;)

thanks for all the feedback! i am most interested in the books, so i’ll think carefully before deciding!

you guys were great!

I just signed up for amazon prime…mostly because I could sign up for it for $59/ year with a $20 credit back on my amazon visa card.

My ? is, if I decide I don’t want it next year, do I have to cancel? Is it automatically renewed and charged to my card, or do I have to renew it and authorize the charge to my card?

I am excited about some of the videos and lending library. Although, it seems hard to just find the lending library on the website, easier on the kindle.

Thanks for any feedback.

Actually just found the answer to my ? and turned off the automatic renewal on my account. Just info for others that might have the same ?.

Where did you find the option to turn off the auto renewal? Once I turned it on I couldnt figure out how to change it back :(

If you go to your account summary, you would be able to click the box that turns it off. If you can’t find it do a search on the website and you should be able to go right to it.
