Amc

How do parents find out results of the AMC 8/10 etc that Honors Math students take?
I believe the AMC 8 is usu given to sixth and seventh grade Honors Math students in the Fall. Our student took it in November.

Also, what is your experience with this? Can it help a student get accepted to BS? Did your student get recruited by any particular school based on this or any other standardized test score? thanks in advance!

I’m not sure how parents usually get notified of AMC results, since my child has taken it outside of school. I know it takes a long time…

I think an excellent score would be top 5% and that may get some attention, but is not rare enough to have a lot of weight. Top 1% would be even better and a perfect score would definitely get some attention.

hth!

I never got official results of the AMC or AIME for my son. He just told me what his scores were. There is no set rule or pattern to who offers them. Some schools do, some don’t.
AMC scores would be good to mention to BS. Mine got recruited a tiny bit by one big name school (I honestly don’t remember which one because we had no interest in a new school at that point) , but it took doing well not just on AMC but on AIME. AIME is the next level - you need excellent AMC scores for it.
