Nick did a good job too.
Painful. Just painful.
Only one standout for me tonight: Clark.
Jax was very good, except for the middle when the band overpowered her (as the judges noted).
I think Jax is the girl to beat.
Clark is in a class all by himself.
I really don’t think any of the other guys really stepped it up tonight.
First of all let me say that the elimination and no attention or last song for the departing contestants STINKS! So unfair! Kudos to Keith for at least acknowledging them. The girls are wearing thin already it seems. Two more gone tonight.
Loved Clark. He by far has the best and most consistent voice. Nick had one of his best efforts- but he still has a hard time connecting. Quentin doesn’t have a perfect voice but he has so much else - a GOOD voice, he captivates you, he shows appropriate emotion - very nice performance. He’s an artist.
Jax seems like she’s trying too hard. Overstylized with her voice. Just sing! Better last night. She and Tyanna are the only girls with a chance I think.
Joey was like watching a little kids show. Remember the Big Comfy Couch? Yeah, like that.
Poor Rayvon, he was too stressed out to sing! I didn’t like what he did too much, and I adore that song.
The set up of this season has a lot of weak spots. I’ll take it as is, but have to say the format has cheapened.
Boy George. He always kind of creeped me out in the 80’s. His music was kind of fun. But I have to say, he seemed like a genuinely nice guy and really seemed to take his role seriously and seemed to really enjoy the kids. Kudos to him.
The David Hasselhoff thing - GAG!
Push It - kind of fun but unnecessary - we have time for this stuff but not have the eliminated contestants sing or get attention???
Has anyone listened to the studio versions?? They were actually up on iTunes YESTERDAY!
Just watched last night’s show. I thought everyone was better than last week. I did not care much for Joey’s performance, but for the first time I noticed she is really a pretty girl. Pink is her color! I always love Clark. Nick and Rayvon have good voices, but they both are missing something. Quentin is interesting. Daniel was better tonight but still should have gone home a long time ago.
Haha, American Idol is showing a cruel side. Yeah, bring one of the greatest voice and let this voice challenged group show how far they’d have to go. The group song was just horrendous.
I really wanted to like Tannya, but her wheels are flying off. She has pipes but is truly a high school Glee performer. Jump around and scream might work, but the emotions and understanding of the songs are naive. The bullying part was not very credible.
Joey was smart not to try to match KC’s voice. That arrangement was smart.
A few years ago, The Voice exposed the lack of voice --and talent-- of Chamuel by bringing K. Clarkson out for duets. That Burleson girl can sing and fill a room with her voice. She is also filling her wardrobe more and more. Her pregnancy has not been kind.
It will take a lot more hypocritical comments by the judges to mask how untalented this overall group is – except for a couple. One good singer and one solid entertainer is all there is. Those are Clark and Quentin who remains mesmerizing. He owns the stage.
I only saw a few performances. Liked Clark, as usual, and not a lot else.
xiggi, it’s rude to talk about Kelly Clarkson’s weight. It has nothing to do with her talent.
Kelly seems as real and down to earth years later as the beginning. Her weight has been up and down for years - nothing new. Her voice however, remains stellar - that’s what is paying the bills!
As far as the performances, it is clear that vocally Clark is heads above the others. Truthfully, Rayvon can have a really, really good voice but he just doesn’t pack the punch that Clark does. Jax is also very good but I still can’t stand the styling of her voice. And I hate bare feet.
I did not care for Joey’s interpretation of her song. Cheesy.
But the most outstanding dreadful thing that happened is that ridiculous Twitter vote. Thank goodness Rayvon prevailed (if indeed they relied on those Twitter votes) - but why on earth would they leave it up to Twitter where many don’t have accounts AND to the fact that only those on EST could even vote!!! What a joke!
Those on Central time could vote, too. It airs live here at 7:00. I don’t do Twitter so I could not vote, but I would have voted for Rayvon. I thought tonight was his best performance to date. So glad about who went home (don’t want to spoil it for those who have not watched.) Isn’t the live Twitter vote exactly what The Voice does in later rounds?
Kelly is about as real as you can get. I loved it when she called Harry a “crap dad.” I don’t know that there will ever be another Idol winner who can match her talent.
If it hadn’t happened before, that twitter vote was the jumping of the shark for AI. I will miss Harry and to a lesser degree Keith, and while JLo seems to be a genuinely nice person, I have yet to feel that she gave me insight into anything.
The producers are trying too hard and making a mess of it.
My dh, who usually doesn’t watch, caught the first performance tonight and said, “Are they not allowed to give constructive criticism yet?” lololol
Nick needs to get back to his “small venue, stripped down” roots. If he continues to go big he doesn’t stand a chance against Clark, if he even had a chance in the first place.
Liked Jax alot… last week. She was basically awful tonight. In a way she’s kind of a “Joey Jr.”, meaning Joey has the more authentic style and Joey’s better vocally.
They needed a warning on he group number: “No adjustment of your set is necessary”.
Tyanna is tanking. And, who’s her style guru of late? Please rediscover your Janelle Monae look and performance elements. It suited you best.
Joey was my favorite female tonight. I’m trying to forget her major misstep last week.
Does J.Lo always interrupt the other judge’s comments or is it just me?
Harry was brutally honest with Quentin.
Qaasim’s gamble to go small was a big failure.
Clark a frontrunner? He’s lapped the field. Why does Keith sugar coat his critiques of inferior talent but not so with Clark? Does he only speak his mind with Clark because he doesn’t want to waste air time trying to improve someone who isn’t worthy of his help?
Clark is the one bright spot to a very disappointing season.
Very astute comments again from this group.
This was my take on the Twitter vote. Rayvon was last and Daniel was next. The producers hoped that Twitter would expose that Daniel was truely awful next to Rayvon (or anyone). Maybe they’ve figured out that the people voting for Daniel aren’t even watching AI and voting for him because he’s young and cute. But I think he knows how out of his league he is and was relieved to be gone. He sure didn’t look upset. He never should have been in the top 24 in the first place. Definitely not the top 12.
Tyanna picked the wrong song. Kelly is right that song needed her to be pissed off. She wasn’t.
I liked Clark. He’s so much better than the other contestants.
Yes Jennifer always interrupts the other judges. Harry called her out recently on the show. It didn’t help. Luckily I taped AI and fast forwarded through the group song.
Sometimes I think Harry is brutally honest when he feels you have potential - and I’m hoping that is what he thinks for Quentin. Did you see Quentin’s family member? Must be his brother - they look like twins!
I did hear that The Voice does something on Twitter too, but is it a 5 minute deal?? I don’t know the answer to that. I’ve decided that maybe it was a gimmick of sorts and that with voting last week, Daniel was on the bottom anyway and that they fully intended to keep Rayvon. I kept waiting for an “April Fools!” till Ryan read the name off the card!
Have you notice there has been NO mention of a tour yet this year and NO mention (that I remember) of # of votes from America each week? Yeah, there’s a reason for that!!!
Good catch on no mention of tour and # of votes, abasket. I have not voted all season long. I also wouldn’t pay to go see this group perform.
YDS, Clarkson is one of my favorite artists. My comment was not rude. It was meant to say that she does not seem to get much help in picking better clothes. She could come out with jeans and a plaid shirt and look ten times better.
Oh my. This is pretty dreadful so far.
What a surprise! The singers or the judges? They seem to outdo each other lately.
Judges are criticizing everybody, even Clark. JLo told him to work on his style. She doesn’t like the button-downed look.
I really liked Clark tonight.
