Clark is consistently good. Very pleased with the elimination tonight.

Only Clark and Tyanna were worthy of much praise tonight IMO. A shame that the tour will only be top 5 - feel sorry for #6!
Ugh, do not like Jax at all. She is so affected, and I can’t stand something about the way she sings. Yuck, yuck, yuck!!
Top 5? The talent drops way off after Clark. Maybe the tour should be called “Clark Beckham and his Band Mates, with guest appearances from Tyanna and Joey”.
I don’t understand why Joey is still there. Ugh. The thrift store wedding gown, and the purple hair? I don’t have good hair, and I don’t think my hair has looked that bad, even on its worst day. And they have stylists. Why, oh why? I don’t think she sounds very good, either. I don’t think I’m going to review all the AI episodes that I’ve missed, if this is what it comes down to.
Well, admittedly, Joey said covers are not her thing. She was right tonight!
Edit: Why couldn’t the judges say Clark is the one to beat? Do they think they can create drama to stir more interest amongst the viewers? JLo’s comments to him should win her an Emmy for the dumbest comments by a judge in a reality show.
Seems like there’s plenty of covers to chose from. Ought to be able to pick something, one would think.

Joey said she’s not top 40 yet she sang “Fancy” - by choice - a couple weeks ago.
Tyanna’s performance was key to keeping her in the top 5 I think.
Joey and Jax will have to fight it out for a spot.
Nick is the other loose bolt I think - his looks are carrying him through.
Tyanna had a much better night than her average so far. Perhaps the best she has sounded in this competition. I am still not buying the emotional part, but she sounded a bit more sincere last night. I am not sure why it is important for the artists to bring it up and for the judges to feast on. We get it: many have lost a grandmother. That syrupy part of the shows is getting old, and this from AI to … Chopped. Every cook seems to be on TV to honor a dead or sick person. We get it! It all sounds like Haley from Modern Family looking for a hardship story for her essays. With plenty of CCers, that is.
The worst for Jax and Joey is that the other is still in the competition. They are trying to outsmart everyone and it isn’t working. Quentin remains the most entertaining person, although he did lose that mesmerizing part.
Clark is obviously leading the pack by a good margin.

Tyanna- runner up or, at the very least, top-4.
Joey- 3rd or 4th
Jax- 3rd or 4th
Nick- 5th or out
Quentin- 5th or out
Clark has a lock on winning, makeover or not. The runner up spot is Tyanna’s to lose, but she certainly doesn’t have it sewn up just yet due to her inconsistency. Joey and Jax are going head-to-head for either the 3 or 4 spot. Both are better than Nick and Quentin, imho. I think whoever gets back to self-accompaniment down the stretch, between Joey and Jax, takes the 3 spot. Jax was very good when she was playing the piano and not just using it as a prop. Joey is a lot more interesting when she is playing one of her instruments as well. For me, I give Joey the edge because she is better vocally and the more authentic artist compared to Jax. I would also give the edge to Nick over Quentin because of his musicality.
The ONLY drama to this season is who exactly finishes 2 through 5 or even who finishes 3 through 5 (with Tyanna in the 2 spot).
I’d like to think that ^^^ - with Clark as the winner - but I don’t trust anything on this show - especially the voters! Seems the likely candidate has been turned upside down near the end of the season more than once!!!
The thing about Nick, I keep expecting him to break out and wow us, and there is always something off about him. I couldn’t put my finger on it until last night. He is singing like he is part of the band, not the lead singer. He needs to sing the lead, and he would be a frontrunner. He seems really sweet and is obviously good looking, but he just still seems like he is singing background. I think if he had Brian’s voice (the overweight guy from the Voice, for those who watch), and his looks, he’d win either contest.
Me too busdriver11. I get eager each time he hits the stage and then, poof! , the excitement is gone and I couldn’t put my finger on it - I decided last night that his problem is he has no range - just sits in the same notes/range for everything he does. I’m disappointed each time he sings. I WANT to like him, but I’m struggling with finding his goods!!
Okay, your last sentence really cracked me up, there. I think I know where his goods are, but it’s not in the way he’s singing! Otherwise, I completely agree.

Did anyone think it was a little inappropriate for JLo to go on and on over Qaasim last night during the Twitter vote? She clearly wanted Qaasim to stay in the competition. I felt bad for Rayvon, and I am glad that the voters chose the best voice. Rayvon seems so nice and obviously has the technical skills, but he, like Nick, is also missing something.
musicmom, I thought it was bizarre that JLo said Qaasim had a “great” voice. Twice.
Sometimes I can’t help but get the creepy feeling that JLo looks at all these guys as potential dates… X_X

I agree, creepy, creepy. Hey, even Daniel is almost the age of the type she’s interested in. Sometimes she seems like she is drooling over these guys, and letting her lust get in the way of honest critiques.
