Pretty much agree with everything above! I don’t care for Joey but I think she is well liked. She seems like a nice girl. She seems very grateful. I just can’t stand her voice or her mannerisms (quite playing with your hair!!!)
Had to laugh - my 17 year old D said regarding Daniel making it and the possibility that Nick wouldn’t (before the end of the show) “If Daniel makes it and Nick at age 29 and with more talent doesn’t - Daniel hasn’t even taken geometry yet!!!” (meaning he’s SOOO young!!) haha!
This is the first time I have watched this season. So far tonight I have suffered through Clark, Jax and Qaasim. It was painful to watch the first two and downright embarrassing to watch Qaasim. I’ve lost all respect for the judges, except maybe HC Jr.
I think I’ll let @takeitallin vote my proxy for me, except that Clark has a bit more potential, IMO. And HC Jr has just been sipping the producers’ Kool Aid rather than chugging it like the others. He is funny and insightful.
But I just had to keep watching and suffer through Daniel. OMG- he was so bad. HC Jr. just commented this was Daniel’s best performance. If that is the case what were the judges ever thinking when they selected him?
You’d better find another proxy Ixnay Bob. I think I’m done.
I saw Rayvon, who didn’t sound near as good as usual to me. The judges exclaiming about his best performance ever. What? Is it my sound system? Started to listen to Maddie, and decided just to turn it off for tonight.
Scott Borchetta is no Jimmy Iovine but he’s a better mentor than Randy Jackson. No one compares to Jimmy Iovine.
Maddie looked lost on the stage with her movement. She is adorable, however I would sit her down with her guitar and not have her do too much.
Rayvon was fairly solid.
Joey makes me JOYFUL! Trending up, up, up!!
I liked Clark behind the piano.
Jax was LAX in the musicality department. Terrible song choice and Scott Borchetta blew his critique of her tonight. Worst performance that she’s done yet.
Qaasim was so bad tonight, that performance would not have even gotten him through to Hollywood Week. Keith and Jennifer liked him. Shame on them. Hooray for Harry.
Adanna is my least favorite female.
TERRIFIC Tyanna is the whole package-- vocals and performance! She blew away the competition! 16-years-old. Frontrunner…
Daniel wasn’t the worst.
Agreed with Harry of his critique on Quentin.
Nick’s song choice was spot-on but he’s underwhelmed me since his audition.
Not even waiting for Sarina-Joi. She ain’t getting the save.
Nick still has that “deer in the headlights” look to me. Hope he can relax.
Sadly, that was perhaps one of Daniel’s better performances - they should have NEVER let him get to top 24 - he can never come back now (to the show).
I think that the producers are hoping to get Qaasim to the top 10 so he can open the tour and sell a few tickets. That’s pathetic!
Clark has much potential and he and Tyanna are my favs. But he needs to sing something a little more current! The piano performance was quite good. His back story is that he was a big high school athlete - not to knock athletes, but I am impressed that he has honed his musical skills so much while being an athlete.
The teenagers sound just horrendous. The ones who need to stand still are hopping all over the place. And the ones who should move are standing still and pitching the notes in oblivion.
This is like a bad Glee episode, and their best show still suck. Clark and Quentin are better than a horrible average.
I think it is Clark’s to lose. Tyanna will probably be in the finals. Nick did ok tonight but he is lacking something, and I don’t think he’s as hot as JLo does. This may be one of the more forgettable seasons. And JLo took a page from Christina’s book with the boobs hanging out. Ugh.
Such a disappointing show at this stage of the competition. Shame on the judges for using the save on Qaasim. They essentially just made a mockery of this season. Even my favorite girl, Tyanna, was disappointing. Clark was clearly the best tonight. I continue to like him, his range, and his musicality. Hope he continues to accompany himself when he performs. I thought Joey was the best girl tonight. That’s not saying much, given the overall level of performances.
Edit: musicmom1215, Wondering if Versace also designed JLo’s jacket tonight… remember the green dress???
Jshain, I applaud your objectivity. I admit to have checked back to read your comments on Tanya as I knew you liked her. She is one of the best in this group, but I have not been THAT impressed with her. For some reason, the very young performers all seem to show cracks after a couple of weeks. I think she will not be different.
This show could use a fast forward and get to the 4 or 5 who deserve to fight for the win.
I start to wonder if the judges are listening to different renditions of the songs. That save was bizarre.
As often happens, I agree with @Jshain! Clark and Joey were the best last night. Clark gave me goosies! Quentin has potential and can be captivating but needs vocal work. With direction and if he has time , he may improve. While Joey may not be my style of music to buy, she is performing well and seems to be trying HARD. I appreciate that.
Tyanna - I’m worried about her. I think she has SO much potential. But one not so good performance (last night) and people might move away from her. She needs help with song selection.
Everytime Nick gets on stage I have high hopes and last night was no exception - those hopes get quickly dashed. He just seems a little deer in the headlights or something. Last night was better, but not good enough.
Jax seems to have slipped a bit - and her style - all of a sudden I feel like she is combining edgy and “little girl” in kind of a creepy way!
I am still appauled that they saved Qaasim. What a slap in the face to the other performers. To me, that’s the shows way to say that the save is a waste. And it was. Now if someone significant has a bad week, gets sick or has a random low voting week - sometimes because fans think their favorite is safe - well, too bad for them!
I thought Qaasim’s performance was kind of frightening. Almost out of control in an aggressive way. While he seems like a fun guy, I have to say I really pick up an arrogant air about him.
I FF’d through JLo and Kenny’s performance. Two hours is A LOT of show to watch!
I think they used the save because there is really no one they care to save. What a down year. This lack of good talent may sink American Idol once and for all. Even us, dedicated watchers from season 1 are ho hum about watching.
Looks like Jshain will be happy. His girl redeemed herself … somewhat. The judges still push her but she is hardly the frontrunner in this competition. She is the best girl but that is it. She is still delivering Glee-like high school performances. Poise, voice, and a lot of cuteness. No heart nor passion too.
Anyhow, she will stay in the competition, but Daniel is still there!
Fwiw, the boys except for the toddler, ran circles around the girls. Quentin was mesmerizing, and even Quasim did better than OK and sounded better than Boy George. The other guys were very good. Obviously, I did not think much of the girls’ night, including that painful … Push It. Thank God for the DVR!
