OK, all this posting means that AI showed up in my YouTube algorithm for the first time.
I got curious and explored who had the most views of their performances last night. I was happy to see it was my two favorites – Jamal and John. Jamal is the only one with more than 100k views, and John had 90k. These videos have been posted for only about nine hours so I went back to last week’s performances, and they led that group, too.
Just one data point.

ANOTHER night of Disney? Blech. I didn’t like any of the first three performances.
OK, Jamal was the best in the first round. That song is a family favorite.

John is crazy talented, and he has charm. If I were a young girl I’d swoon for his music and voice.
I like all those left.
I’ve only ever voted once, and that was pre Covid days, I voted for Alejandro Aranda - by far the most unique guitar and piano players. He came in second that season.
He really deserved to win over yet another WGWG

Did not think all of those songs were “Disney” songs, though some may have been in Disney franchises.
American Idol, like Dancing With the Stars, both broadcasting on Disney-owned ABC, often use a loose and/or all-encomoassing definition for "Disney Songs "

Fact checked: 
Did not associate “Ain’t no Mountain High enough” (Ashford& Simpson; Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell; Diana Ross) with Disney. Had to look it up to find it was in the movie “Chicken Little” in 2005. Never saw that movie.
It also was in Remember the Titans.

Didn’t see that one either. But agree, that seems to be a stretch to consider/make it a “Disney” song.
Our top three were Gabby, Breanna, and Thunderstorm.
We loved Gabby and thought she might win…nope!
We vote Jamal as most improved. He seriously gets better every week.
I’m guessing John will win. He is a star already.
I like John - beautiful voice and seems sweet.
I liked Thunderstorm over Jamal but they’re both amazing.
Not a fan of Brianna - she never seems to be having fun - I like artists that make me want to join the fun.

My wife was addicted to American Idol back in the day when it was a “must watch.” Now that it’s on Disney+, there’s no reason to watch it. It’s just another streaming show like the rest of them. I haven’t seen it for years.
