didn’t care for Jason; wasn’t my favorite of David’s performances, but he’s set the standard very high for himself. Brooke - I agreed with Simon (but would have said it in a different way); Syesha was OK… nothing impressive.

Is it Neil’s fault that none of them are very good tonight?

(Closet ND fan here). We saw him a few years ago in person - with all of the other boomers filling the center - teriwitt. His voice is not what it was. But the songs are so great.

I couldn’t quite figure out if I really actually liked Brooke’s 2nd song or if I was just so relieved that she didn’t Bomb again that I just think I liked it.

My kids think she needs to do a Preparation H commercial. She always looks so pained. Her second song was better, but she smiles at odd times and squints and has all these facial tics.

one of the things I try to do during each performance is to close my eyes and listen to just their voice for part of the song. Is there a money note they hit (or even attempt, as I think Jason did not even try tonight)? Given that context, for the second songs tonight, I thought Brooke’s was actually very pleasant; Syesha was very entertaining; David A. did a good job; Jason lost me tonight, and again, David Cook rocked my world.

Tonight shows me that they need to stop forcing these kids to do old folks songs and then they criticize them for song choice or sounding like karaoke. The only place you hear Neil Diamond songs anymore is at a karaoke bar, or on a cruise ship or at a wedding or at a Neil Diamond concert. They can’t really want to do them and they just don’t fit their voices or style. I was in love with Neil Diamond - but in 1971. I just don’t get it.

Besides the weird hair I think David C’s other problem is that “beard” or goatee or whatever you call that scraggly fuzz. If you can’t have a good full one, don’t grow it at all.

I like him the best overall but still think David A has the best voice. Brooke’s second song was actually nice. I’d still gong her, along with Jason.

Paula needs to be committed.

I don’t think this is one of the stronger years.

I’m not a big ND fan, but I don’t mind him. Tonight overall, blah, just boring and I’ve been a die hard Idol fan. My thoughts kept drifting off to other things tonight. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten those “wow, what a performance” chills once this season.

I can’t get over the pimping that David A. is getting… Drives me a littlecrazy, truth be told. I think Syesha will be fantastic on Broadway, and that David C. will be cast off in week 4 - even though he is my favorite and even though I think he has the best shot at a recording career…

happy to have found this thread. My family has been actively watching AI this year and think it is one of the best in recent years.

Initial reaction was David A was a shoe in. Not a teeny bopper here by any means, but he does have a great voice. But he is young…

Love Brooke’s voice, but she lacks the confidence and personality needed. I wish she would just relax. Lovely girl.

Syesha is so under rated by the judges AND the public - she is really fantastic most of the time.

Jason … cute, different, but why is he still here? He has done nothing memorable outside of the wonderful rendition of “over the rainbow”

David C… absolutely hated him the first few weeks, thought he looked pretty “sketchy” with the hair and the face fuzz so I didn’t see through that and hear his voice. After hearing him sing “Billy Jean” and “Music of the Night”, I am a fan.

Who will win? Top 2 will be the two Davids. And I hope Jason goes home tomorrow night.

RatedPG - have to agree with you there. Jason’s really been phoning it in. Apparently, though, so have his fans. I think Simon said Syesha was in trouble to help her, actually… Not sure it will be enough. Her interview packages always came over a little more canned than they could have, which I don’t think helps with the calling base…

Gah… I should try to get a paper published on all this. At least then it would justify watching :-D
