I was trying to put my finger on what annoys me about Haley, and my sister phrased it for me. She is one of those jazz singers that sings every song very much the same. She always has to growl, she always has the same schtick. Which annoys me, because I think she is the best singer in the group and wish she would just sing the songs straight, without all that crap. Every time I’m waiting for her to do it, and the more she does it, the more I don’t like it. Knock it off, Haley, just sing the dang song, you can do it and we’ll love you!

No…last year’s winner (who WAS it?) is sooo last year…

Lee DeWyze from Mt. Prospect, IL. Haley is from Wheeling, IL.

Depending on where you are in each village, you could be close, but another larger suburb sort of squeezes them out from sharing a longer border.

You mean that they are both from Flyover Country? LOL.

I wonder what the 16 and 17 year olds will do after the competition - will they go back to high school? Get GEDs? I have come to the conclusion that they should make Idols HS grads to keep these very young kids out of there.

Must admit that I’m shocked.

Wow!!! Just wow!!! How did that happen?

I’m not. But I was never in his camp.
Wait; I should be shocked because I am not right very often.

OMG!!! I’m devastated. He should have won the whole thing.

I’m done. Not watching the rest of the season. I have no interest in the remaining three. The best one is gone. Hopefully he gets a record deal and proves once again that you don’t have to win Idol to have a great career (Daugtrey, Adam Lambert, Jennifer Hudson, etc.)

I think the judges screwed up. They said so many times that he was the one to beat - it was his to lose, etc. His fans thought he had it in the bag and did not vote.

I am happy to see Haley made it through, I think she has so much more in her. I knew Lauren would be fine and pretty much figured Scotty would be fine also. I thought it would come down to Haley and James and was hoping Haley would make it through. James is just an emotional wreck and I think he got a little full of himself, just like Jacob.

I couldn’t have predicted who was going home especially the way this season has gone so I’m not surprised. Good voice but a bit over the top the last couple of weeks. Personally, I liked him.

I wasn’t too surprised. I honestly can’t imagine him selling many records. I said the same thing about Adam Lambert.

I don’t like Haley either. She’s inconsistent and when someone is given this type of platform to perform to a big audience, they need to bring their best every time. I’m sick of her growling and screaming (when she can’t naturally hit the note).

I’m not a big country music fan, but I do see huge potential in 17 year old Scotty. Sure, he needs to work of some things, but he’s a 17 year old kid and he’ll develop the skills quickly. He has natural talent and nerves of steel and will only get better with guidance and time. He’s also marketable.

I was happy for Haley and Lauren … even though I expected Scotty to get through to his strong fan base, I hated seeing James so sad before they even announced the results. I’m hoping to learn a little more about these contestants when they go home. Sometimes from that you get an extra vibe about their home grown fan base … the ones w/ huge home fan bases seems to keep collecting large pools of fans wherever they go.

I thought it would come down to Scotty or James so now I’m betting it’s Scotty since Lauren and Haley will split the vote. I have a FB friend who is despondent at this turn of events.

I seriously have no desire to watch the three left. Don’t like their music, don’t like their personalities. Don’t like.

IMO, the judges have screwed up majorly this season, by really not judging!

Go get em James. Be strong and work hard just like you did on Idol.

^^^ I agree. I’m done watching too.

Also done for the season. I was going to have to miss the last shows (on Tues and Wed, not Wed and Thurs, for those still watching) but now I don’t really care.

I’m pretty happy with these final three.

bchan1, I agree with your comments a page or so back (#515) where you said James was overpraised and Haley has received ‘harsh, biased and unfair coverage’. I also feel that the judges have been inconsistent in criticizing one person and praising another for doing the same thing. It’s pretty obvious that they have an agenda. Maybe that’s why ST has praised so often - he’s not playing the game?

Pretty much in agreement with everyone, particularly nysmile… I think it is a fairly safe bet to say Scotty will make it to the final two, but I cannot tell you with much degree of certainty which girl will join him. I think that the Idol Nation vote for Scotty based on his personality as much as his performances. He has a poise and confidence way beyond his years. Unlike all the other competitors, he never uses his fingers to flash his phone number when Ryan is reading off the phone numbers after each performance. He comes the closest to being “star ready” of all the competitors for the last month or so.

Maybe Scotty and Lauren will split the vote, since they are both country. I went back and listened to Haley’s performances, and her voice mostly sounds really rich and compelling. I’m finding it tough to predict a winner. James did a good performance of Baby I’m Amazed. If he connects with a great band, he could be a rock star. I thought Jordin Sparks was disappointing, and it was a really bad song. Lady Gaga was really great, and I think it was a good idea to introduce her song via Idol.
