IDK whether his fans didn’t vote or his slight (?) cockiness turned people off. Sometimes he was strong and I was a fan, but his scream-y sing out, which doesn’t really showcase his voice, was an example of him at his weakest. Understandable, but sometimes he sang that way when it wasn’t understandable.

I only like Haley of the remaining and I would never have thought her genre would make it through to the top.

Totally done with Idol. James’ (and a couple of Casey’s) are the only songs I’m interested in downloading/buying. Not into the others enough to buy their songs now so doubt I’d buy them later. Sorry but i’d much prefer someone who feels the song deeply enough to get emotional about it than not.

They all have talent, I think, but the most talented one of all is Casey… oops. Notice how even though he was eliminated a few weeks ago, he’s still there (and shown on camera) every show since.

^He is there mainly in support of Haley. They were rumored to be “a pair” before he was eliminated and I’m NOT talking about the duet they did together. Speaking of which, that Jazzy one seemed to mark Haley’s turning point in the whole competition. I wonder how much of Haley’s success should be given to Casey?

Surprised James got the boot over Haley last night. Didn’t think he would win though as I think he came across sometimes as over confident (but who could blame him as the judges loved him) and I tired of hearing that high pitched screaming . Scotty has grown on me. He seems like a nice kid with a great voice. These are all talented people, sad to see any of them go. I just enjoy watching these incredibly talented kids grow and mature on a national stage. They are amazing considering how old they are. Should be a fun finale. I think it will come down to Scotty and Lauren and I think Scotty will win.

As my son used to say…“not to be mean” but I thought it was hysterical when Ryan went flying into the audience as he tried to hit the ball. He had a nice save, but I kind of saw it coming from a mile away.

I was hoping Haley would go, but I’m not surprised it was James. Though I’ve always been a fan, I just don’t think he sounded that great the last couple of times. If you relisten to the performances from another room, not looking at them, just hearing the voices, he just doesn’t sound as fantastic as he used to. The other talent is so great, whoever even slightly dropped the ball was going to get booted.

I’m done watching AI for this season. I’m not interested in any of the remaining 3. While I can’t deny that Scotty has talent and great stage presence, I’m definitely not a country fan -I do think he could make it in the country music scene. I don’t think either of the girls has what it takes to make it. I would never pay to go see either of them and would not download any of their music. Oh well- I didn’t vote this week so can’t complain!

Also “not to be mean” as mimk6 said, but if Lauren cakes any more make-up on her face, it’s going to peel right off on camera. I think she is cute but it’s hard to say under all of that goo.

Casey fan here…not much interested in those left.
I’ll ‘watch’ the rest of the season but for me that means DVRing it and speed watching through the commercials, visiting performers and other extraneous stuff.

Probably contributing to my attention issues but sure does save time.

I get that Scotty is really talented, in fact, I believe he will have a long, successful career regardless of what happens from here on out on Idol. But for me, and probably a few others, between him and Lauren I have heard enough country songs to last me the next 20 years or so of my life. At this point, I mute Scotty, because he sounds exactly the same to me every time–no point in listening. Yes, Casey is a real musician (of course, he went to Idlyllwild School of Music and the Arts), I miss him. I don’t get the Haley haters–she has an interesting, expressive voice, and is a big improvement over many of the current female pop stars, such as, for example, Rhianna.

Am I the only one that thinks that Lauren’s mom is doing her hair and makeup? They have have the same kind of low-lights in their hair. Yes, and way too much make-up … she’s so young, I don’t know why she doesn’t show off her natural skin more, however, she does really make her eyes look great in the spotlight.

^ The reason why is because that’s how the girls are in the deep south. (Lauren’s from Georgia.) Although I, as a girl her age from the Midwest, too think it’s incredibly tacky (the two-toned, unnatural-looking hair and caked-on makeup), they embrace the over-the-top looks much more often than do the rest of the country (overall, I’ve noticed).

Surely you don’t think they do their own hair and makeup for the show. Not to say she doesn’t wear a lot of makeup in real life (I don’t know) but I would bet the farm that AI has a hair/makeup/wardrobe staff making these decisions for the television broadcasts.

The other night they showed an audience shot of Lauren’s mom and possibly her sister - hair and makeup wise, they looked like clones - the same hair highlights, etc.

As far as being done for the season and questioning why people would say that, why watch if you truly, truly don’t care for the contestants left and really, REALLY don’t like their style of singing? I’ll use that hour or hour and a half for something else happily. Will tune in for the last 5 mins to see who gets eliminated and maybe watch the final night to see the other performers. But can’t say it any plainer, don’t care for the 3 left personality wise or singing wise.

Since Season 2, I have watched this show never missing an episode - guess that shows, for me, what a bummer of a season this has been - have only tuned in the last 3 weeks or so for James.

There likely is a makeup staff, but I was suggesting that Mom is in the back stage area with Lauren giving guidance to the makeup team. I remember when that young man was on a few seasons ago, I think he ended up 2nd overall, the one that had dark hair was was a tween favorite, there was strong speculation that his dad was a pain the neck to deal with backstage, so I’m drawing a conclusion that the younger ones (below 18) have more helicopter parents hovering backstage. It can’t be a coincidence that Lauren’s mom looks a like like her once they’re all done up super fancy. Also, Haley, who also uses the same makeup staff doesn’t look caked at all, so someone is influencing Lauren’s look above and beyond the base makeup team.

AI definitely has a makeup staff, but they try to accommodate the contestants’ own personal styles obviously. Clearly, Lauren has had input on her own look and what she likes. Does anyone else agree that her outfits are super unflattering?

Who do you guys think will go home next, and who will ultimately win?
I think Lauren’s going home next, and Scotty will win (I hope!).
