@xxxxx12 i guess you’re right… Still haven’t received anything in NH
@almostdone99 and we are in MD not far from D.C. but it depends sometimes. Don’t lose hope…
@quinnie2418 To answer your question, yes, but not as I’ve seen in this thread so far.
Last year there was one – or maybe more – who was able to create their myAU, view their FA, scholarships, etc., yet got waitlisted. I don’t have the time on my hand right now to go back and search for the exact quote, but if anyone could help out, I believe he/she was in last year or the year before’s thread (not sure if RD or ED).
I live in WA and was able to create an account, view the congrats page, and etc., but I personally take it with a grain of salt, since there were incidents in the past that proved the portal to be completely wrong; those who was not able to create an account got accepted, and vice versa.
Again, I would wait for the physical letter for reinsurance
Today I received an email congratulating me on my acceptance, as well inviting me for an overnight campus visit. I have not received a physical confirmation of my acceptance, in letter form, however is the email a reliable source for assuming my acceptance?
Also, do they deliver mail on Saturdays?
@michigan7 I would say that an email is certainly a great sign! Also, they do where I live (which is NH) and I assume that they do in most places
@KimQuat I still haven’t received my package in the mail, so I’m not completely sure if I’m being offered spring or fall admission (though I’m guessing spring). I should’ve qualified for some financial aid but unfortunately I forgot to send in my CSS and only sent in FAFSA (so my only aid online is my $5500 student loan right now). I also wouldn’t have been able to afford AU without any awards. If I remember correctly I applied undecided to the school of public affairs. I’ll let you know about my package when I receive it though!
My portal says admitted into Spring 2018 (still have zero idea what that means) but I haven’t received a letter yet, nor an email… this is madness
Shame on American for releasing decisions in such an unorganized manner.
Is accepting a spot on the waitlist binding?
@TheCrimsonBulldog Yes!
I think nothing is binding…even accepting admission offer.
Southern California here. I was just finally able to create a myau account after several days of not being able to. I can review my financial aid award and see my new student check-list. I don’t want to get my hopes up and I have heard that some people have been able to view their account but were still waitlisted. Can someone help clear this up for me? I haven’t received anything in the mail or via email.
@gk1733 I forgot to add AU to FAFSA as we had the max 10 schools and didn’t send the CSS. Had them sent right away and hoping for a miracle.
I thought my daughter was accepted after looking at the computer but then we received her envelope in the mail. It says Spring 2018 but she can take classes in the fall through the Mentorship Program and the credits will apply later. Does that mean she is not guaranteed housing in the fall? Very confusing and shocking. Yesterday was not a good day for results but my daughter is very happy with the choices she has so far. Also yesterday, in addition to American, waitlisted at W & L, and waitlisted at Lehigh. She has been accepted to Rutgers (honors), UDel (honors), Gettysburg (highest scholarship), Loyola (highest scholarship), Dickinson (small scholarhship), Rensselaer (scholarship), TCNJ (small scholarship), and Villanova. Rejected to Johns Hopkins, UVA. Still waiting to hear from UPenn (legacy twice) and George Washington. ACT: 30, Class Rank: 6/550, very well rounded with tons of EC including theatre and MVP of varsity sports team.
Hi, I’m new on here and I’m seeing a lot of people receiving their letters. I live in Texas and I have yet to receive any kind of mail. Are there any Texas people who knows when we might receive ours?
@Doberlady let me know what happens! When I get my package I’m planning on calling them and letting them know, I’m just hoping they’re not totally unwilling to give me any money
@sdl0625 Not all of us high stats kids can afford to go to Ivies who don’t offer much merit scholarship, and not all of us are able to apply ED as not everyone knows where they want to go to college in November. Waitlisting overqualified applicants is ridiculous as now we have no chance of receiving any form of scholarship, which makes American out of my reach. I would have gone to American if I had gotten in with enough scholarship. Assuming that everyone with a high GPA and high scores wants to go to an Ivy or Georgetown or can afford to is just flat wrong.
Have not been able to log onto my portal at all, but received an email Thursday inviting me to an Admitted Students reception and congratulating me on my admission. Super frustrated though because I still have not received my official letter nor have I been able to log into the portal. I really want to know the terms of my admission to see if I could consider AU as a viable option
just got an email congratulating me on my spring acceptance I’m assuming there’s no way to try to be accepted for fall once you are offered spring?
I was waitlisted and AU has been my #1 for a really long time. So I honestly don’t believe demonstrated interest means anything. I’ve been unable to access portal nor did I receive an email.
