American University Class of 2028 Official Thread

Do you mean cornerstone? Cornerstone essentially offers students the opportunity to either do an internship or study abroad during their freshman year, so it really depends on what your student is interested in. They can also reach out to their admissions officer and get connected to a current/former student from the program!

Yea I meant cornerstone lol sorry. I’m mainly just confused about how the DC internship works. Would I still be in classes? Does AU help me get the intership?

From what I know, students do have to apply for the internship themselves but they have advisors who work with them. And students essentially take half a regular course load and then use the internship for the rest of their credits that semester. It’s a good deal for students who want to get started on building a resume early but it’s not a super popular option since the more prestigious/established (for lack of a better word) internships don’t take freshmen.

Ok that makes sense. Thank you so much!

Thanks!

Daughter accepted - GPA 3.9 UW/4.8 W test optional - presidential scholarship $20k but also cornerstone program which neither of us know anything about.

Anyone else have this in the offer?

Does anyone know what the DC Communitv Impact Scholars Program is? Is it prestigious? Or worth it?

Here’s the website for the program. It essentially emphasizes volunteer work and academic research. It’s a sister program with the honors program, and they share the same floor in the living learning community. It’s competitive, but it’s really up to each student and what their goals are as to whether its ā€œworth itā€.

D24 admitted with Presidential scholarship (20K) 4.1 unweighted 4.7 weighted. 1410 SAT. 8 AP’s 13 Honors. No demonstrated interest.

Same here for my son. GPA roughly the same as you with 1500 SAT and $20k presidential. Was also offered the cornerstone but we don’t understand much about the program or how prestigious it might be.

Does anyone have information on when Honors decisions will come out? My son was accepted and whether he gets into the program will influence if he attends or not.

my D24 was informed in the admittance letter than she was accepted into Honors Program

Admitted with 4.1 w GPA and 1320 SAT (720 Verbal 600 Math). Attended a virtual session but that’s it for dem. interest. OOS. Musical Theatre and Journalism double major.

If you don’t mind answering, what is student’s major? Is it music focused? My son is interested in participating in music, but not as a major or minor. I’m just wondering if he too could be considered for a music scholarship.

Congrats!

Accepted but no aid-full price

Daughter was accepted and she was pleasantly surprised as she viewed this school as a reach. She was also accepted to Global Scholars YET no scholarships or awards. Anyone else in the same boat?
