I disagree. There are definitely data points suggesting otherwise. We’re in NC but I know several applicants in NoVA who showed interests with multiple visits who were not admitted. I believe American resembled many schools who saw a significant increase in applications and had to make decisions. So many NoVA kids applied that there bound to be results that made you scratch your head.
I was accepted!
UW GPA 4.0, 1540 SAT, IB diploma, high school ranks in top 60 nationally, strong extracurriculars, political science major! I was also admitted to the AU cornerstone program and given a 25k/year scholarship. Likely will not attend though as I was already admitted to Georgetown!
They won’t release the final number for another couple of weeks or so, they typically email it out or announce it during admitted student events. I’d guess it’s around 35-45% since that’s the average for the past couple of years minus the one outlier Covid year.
C24 accepted to Global Scholars Program with 15K Deans Scholarship.
1410 SAT, 4.0 UW GPA, 4.28 WGPA, 9 AP, 4 Honors
We visited summer of 2022.
Wait maybe it is Need aid? If it is I am shocked because we 100% don’t qualify for CA Need aid. I assumed it was Merit aid, maybe I am wrong?
definitely need aid after logging in and checking the portal.
S accepted with $25k Presidential Scholarship. 3.98uw/4.40w GPA; test optional; strong ECs. Visited 2x in person + 1 online seminar. Also submitted an optional arts portfolio for intended major.
Accepted for Political Data Science w/ $22k Presidential + AU Cornerstone!
3.9/45, 34 ACT, 6 AP/10 DE, public school. Visited March of last year.
Yes this is need aid. Grants are need-based. Anything merit would be labeled as a “scholarship”.
Can my daughter create MyAUPortal account even if she is not yet ready to commit to AU? Looks like we know the need based aid only after logging into it.
Yes she can. If she doesn’t commit they’ll just delete the account after a year of non-use.
Congrats to all who got good news today.
Are they giving need based aid already based on CSS profile? Do they adjust that when FAFSA was ready too?
I think they use CSS.
S accepted with $8K Dean’s scholarship and $6,200 music scholarship. 3.74UW, 4.6W, ~20 dual enrollment college classes (early college program), test optional, school tour in fall and preview day in February plus wrote emails to the admissions officer and also emailed faculty at the school he applied to (Public Affairs).
AU uses both FAFSA and CSS. Given that the FAFSA is delayed this year aid is likely being estimated off of CSS and is readjusted when FAFSA is ready.
Our daughter was accepted to Global Scholars with a $22k scholarship, but not to AU Honors. Can you be accepted to both?
Students can only be accepted to one program as they are living learning communities.
Accepted into AU Capstone program +22K scholarship. Does anyone know specifics about the capstone program, there is not a lot online about it and many of the videos explaining it are from a couple of years ago.
Also if anyone wants stats lmk.
